“More information in English and this would be 5 star!”

We loved our visit in terms of the exhibits. The museum was ridiculously quiet. We were able to view everything comfortably and at leisure which made for a great visit.

However the distinct lack of information in English was disappointing. Even in the shop there was no book of the exhibits written in English. Hence we were able to whizz round fairly quickly. Our children (12 and 8) loved it! Lots of thought-provoking works and its an impressive building for sure. For us however, I would have liked to have had more information on the artists and their work.

A good mix of 19th & 20th c modern art, plus a large collection of contemporary work to suit varied tastes. Well worth a visit though, and the Art Cafe is open also on Sundays and serves food to an unusually good standard for a museum restaurant.

I actually enjoyed the collection. There were works by artists I knew but also enjoyed seeing what lesser known, but good, artists were doing during the years abstract expressionism was developing in New York.

The museum isn't huge, but well curated and very leisurely. The current exhibit - tracing 100 years of architecture through Europe - was stellar.

This gallery is housed in a simple but very well-designed modern building by the side of the river. It has substantial modern and contemporary permanent galleries, and a large space for temporary exhibitions - when we visited this was given over to a show about French and German architecture in the 19th and 20th centuries, which we thought would be uninteresting, but in fact was absolutely fascinating. We'll put this on our list of places to return to.
