The open boat was a great way to hear and see the history of Strasbourg.
Good value for money, beautiful sights.
The loch system was very interesting.
Shame we couldn't go around again.

When we approached the starting point not far from the Cathédrale Notre-Dame de Strasbourg we were amazed to see a line of about two hundred people waiting to buy a ticket. We waited like 45 minutes in the sun! But, the boat ride was super! Worth waiting and cost (about EU 9.60 per adult). Audio guide in many languages was very useful. We passed by Petite France were we experienced changing hights in a canal lock, the covered bridges (protecting the gunpowder from rain...), the Neustadt quarter, and some of the European institutions. The trip took about 75 minutes and gave an indepth insite of Strasbourg.

Long queues to buy tickets and somewhat confusing info about times for the open and covered boats. We wanted to take a covered boat because it was raining. The boat was nice and comfortable with good seats, and the ventilation worked well. Audio guide in many languages, but the guide often paused and we heard some tiresome pan flute music instead. A few times it was difficult to keep track on which building or bridge the guide was talking about. A nice thing is that the boat also goes past the European Parliament which is a bit outside the city centre and maybe would have been left unseen for many tourists. Interesting to see the water locks in work, too. Batorama is an easy and relaxing way to see some of the sights, even if watching a city from a boat on a river isn't ideal.

We thoroughly enjoyed our canal cruise, which was part of our Uniworld Rhine River cruise excursion. This is a European way of seeing this historic French town, travelling the waterways & canal locks, rising to the various levels. Site seeing the "new and old" buildings for a different way.

This boat ride on the River L'ill is very popular with the tourists. I used my free ticket from the Strasbourg Pass I had purchased on arrival and had a nice warm sunny morning to spend an hour or so on the water, so I did. This is not an over the top boating experience but was a very nice relaxing way to see more of Strasbourg from the rivers point of view. Checking out all the bridges up close and personal like, as well as going through the two water locks. Now that was kind of interesting. Canned narration available if you want it
