“Well-hidden gem”
Reviewed June 23, 2013

We found the S'Kaechele on Trip Advisor, and were wary to find a tourist trap. On the contrary, this restaurant is a real gem with a local customer base (but a bit tricky to find!). The service was outstanding (thank you Karine, the owner), we felt very welcome like old friends. The food was delicious (roquefort escargots highly recommended) and very reasonably priced (EUR 64 for two 3-course menus, including wine and water). The S'Kaechele offers excellent value for money: a must do in Strasbourg!

“Fight your way in if you have to, but don't miss this one”
Reviewed May 22, 2013

What can I say? The welcome is terrific and you feel like an old and honoured customer the moment you walk in. The food is simple and just fabulous and believe me when I say that despite all the "top" restaurants in Strasbourg, this little gem is the best.
No, it doesn't have waiters in evening dress, and no it does not have a pretentious sommelier or a huge menu. What it does have however, is a husband and wife team, who between them know all there is to know about hospitality, Alsatian food and wine, and how to look after customers.
There are genuinely only twenty four or so covers, so reservation is essential.

“This is why you come to Strasbourg!”
Reviewed May 13, 2013

Lucky to find a table for two at the last moment we were doubly ( trebly?) lucky to enjoy Daniels's superb traditional cuisine..the choucroute out of this world..the rhubarb and ginger compote with home made Madeleine a revelation..and we hardly dare to say we shared a starter of a terrine made with pot au feu vegetables, ham and chicken. A really wonderful meal with the warm friendliness of Karine and a bottle of the exceptional Stephane Wantz Pinot Noir. And not an easy evening for Karine who had a family bereavement the next day. Bravo to the whole 'equipe'!@

“Cosy,romantic and great food”
Reviewed March 12, 2013

Cosy, intimate and run with an incredible charm by the, I assume lady owner who runs the floor. The level of service and attention received put to shame some well know establishment .The restaurant is small and perfect for a romantic evening .The deco is very much Alsace style and the food is superb. The starter imaginative and well prepared (terrine and pate) Lamb shank was divine, tender and juicy. A Gordon bleu which I have not seen on any menus since the last 3 decades was terrific. The wine list is short and well-formed and the prices are reasonable for Strasbourg
