Basic but acceptable accommodation; some of the staff are a bit aloof and for longer stays service is not as frequent as desirable. Benefits from air-conditioning and represents better value for money than other similar establishments in the area. Wooden floors do mean that noisy upstairs neighbours can be a cause for concern. Beds are basic but not uncomfortable. TV availability for English speakers is poor - take a portable DVD player and plenty of DVDs! Poubelle areas are pretty dirty and smelly. Handy for the city centre and only 10-15 mins walk from the station. Strasbourg provides a useful base for visiting the French Vosges and the even more interesting and beautiful Black Forest area of Baden-Wuerttemburg

I say "long-stay hotel" because it has all the hallmarks of it. We had an apartment with a separate bedroom (twin beds), living-dining room, well-equipped kitchen with dishwasher and washroom with separate toilet, and lots of storage space. High ceilings, wood floors and large windows made it very comfortable. But, this isn't a full-service hotel - please realize this before you make a reservation. If you come for more than a couple days, maid service is once a week only (good if you don't want to be bothered), and there is no room service is minimal. But you can cook your own meals, which is useful, and the location is perfect. The one thing I didn't like is the bedding, which seems to be common in Accor hotels: there is no sheet, just the duvet in its cover. But some people like it, it would seem! Also, the wireless Internet is too slow, but it is included and the connection is reliable.

I stayed at this hotel in March 2009 and was favorably impressed at the time. Especially its central location and the kitchen facilities were seen as a plus. Since I come to Strasbourg regularly for work I decided to book again for October 2009. Then, I too experienced being bumped out at one week's notice due to someone more important wishing to extend a stay. My booking had been made 7 months in advance. The proposed alternative was somewhere far away from the center with no transport links so I was 'offered' a taxi in for the morning and out for the evening. Not much help with irregular working hours and the need to eat since it had no kitchen facilities.
I'm afraid that I would not recommend this hotel since canceling long-term bookings at the last minute without providing an acceptable replacement room is a totally unacceptable way to run a hotel when one is a business traveler.

We stayed 10 nights in an apartment at Adagio in Strasbourg and were very pleased. We booked online and there were no problems. The location is excellent and we found our room to be as good as new, well equipped (including kitchen ware) and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Our room did not have much of a view (inside yard), but we weren't expecting it either. If you're a very light sleeper, rooms on the street may have some noise from trams, we barely heard it.

If your looking for an apartment hotel to use a base for exploring Strasbourg and the Alsace region, we can sincerely recommend Adagio based on our experience.

I stayed here for a night during the NATO summit, when the entire city was shut down. So I can't complain about the noise from outside because there wasn't any. The rooms are small and space is at a premium. The bed folded down from the wall and was firm but comfortable. The service wasn't so hot. As I was ironing my shirt at about 11:45 that night the fuses all blew and I was left in total darkness. Luckily my BlackBerry was to hand so I used the screen to illuminate my path to the phone. The guy on duty downstairs explained that I had to reset the fuse and that the box was hidden away behind a false wall. "If you can't find it, I'll come up," he said with some resignation. I managed to find the fusebox without too much trouble, luckily. The breakfast was mediocre and even though I was there just before the kitchen opened, the scrambled eggs were still ice cold. My room cost 150 Euros a night and that doesn't strike me as great value.

Four of us stayed in the 2 room apartment in Early Dec for 5 days. Excellent apartment with a fully equiped kitchen. Modern finishings with large bathrooms. Bathing gel/ handwash provided. (Loved the eucalyptus oil in the bathing gel1)
As this was an aparthotel, the beds were not made daily and we had to bring out the trash but this added on the homeliness of the place.
The tramline was next to the hotel but thanks to thick curtains and soundproofing of the windows, we could hardly hear them. There was free wireless internet which was very useful for us to book last minutre train tickets, check on weather for day trips.
The location was excellent, as we were able to walk to shopping areas (gucci/ LV/ hermes were just 5-10 mins away), walk to the cathedral (5 mins away) and there were markets going on at Kleber place on many of the days.
We were able to buy wine/ pasta for cooking from nearby Simply supermarket and whip up warm meals in the apartment - which saved us quite a lot of money from eating in restaurants.
Value for money if staying with family.

Brand new, having opened only 3 days previously, we settled in very quickly to spacious room with separate toilet and separate luxury bathroom. Kitchenette includes hob, microwave, grill and dishwasher (but bring your own filters for coffeemaker and dishwasher tablets!) Excellent central city location, right by Homme de Fer tram intersection, so no need for taxi from station. Although our room overlooked the street, there was no traffic noise (pedestrianised) apart from slight ding every so often from trams - certainly didn't wake us up. Very easy to walk everywhere - cathedral 5 minutes, several great bread shops 1 minute, Monoprix for groceries and wine 2 minutes. Although, for us, it was pricey, we saved money by not eating out much. Mattress rather hard was only downside.

  • Liked — Modern, spacious, stylish, great location
  • Disliked — Hard mattress
