After a warm suggestion, I went to these charming and old restaurant beside Strasbourg's cathedral. Also with a reservation the stand-by was quite long, but rewarded by very nice alsatian specialties with a giant choucroute and very good alsatian white wine. Service sometimes disappears and the space inside is really tiny but the atmosphere is particular. Something to taste.

The situation of this very beautiful restaurant built in 1427 is unique : just in front of the superb gothic cathedral.
On Easter Sunday 2013, I reserved the first floor for my 60 international students come from all over the world. The typical Alsacian choucroute, the Munster cheese and the sorbet were good for a very reasonable price: 29,90 €.

There are 2 vegetarian options and the one with mushrooms was a very pleasant surprise. Very tasty and balanced. Wine is quite expensive but had a decent bouquette. More alsacien is not possible, with the view from the table to the Cathedrale.

Located in the centre of the old part of Strasbourg right next to the cathedral the setting could not be more historical. A reservation recommended. We had dinner on the second floor, which was not cramped with tables unlike many other French restaurants.
Very friendly and courteous service. The food was very good but not spectacular. It was served after a fairly short period of time.
I'd say it is a "must" to eat here during a stay in Strasbourg.

Part of an adjoining hotel, this place does dishes from the Alsace in a classy style, in addition to your standard French bistro fare. The restaurant is located in a 15th century cellar with (original?) wall paintings which really add to the ambience.

The snail entree was lovely. My lamb was perfectly adequate but my wife's duck breast was outstanding.

Decent wine list too - the area is famed for its local produce.
