“Oozing charm”
Reviewed October 25, 2010

We stayed with Mariam at Martin Jund and loved every second. The place dates from the 1600's is full of charm. We love the "frenchness" - exposed beams, antiques, loads of character! The view of the roof tops from our attic window was spectacular. Breakfast was basic, but good. Would be nice if it was included in the room rate. The location is excellent - short walking distance the historic heart of Colmar, Petite Venice, etc. Martin Hund is also a working winery. We were there during harvest time and the smell of the fermenting grapes was wonderful! Sadly we waited until our last day to taste their wines - they were some of the best we had in the area! Organic too! If we return to Colmar, we will definitely be staying at Martin Jund.

We stayed in the prestige apartment which is on the top floor (no lift). This is spacious, open to the eaves and self contained with 3 separate sleeping areas. We had breakfast the first morning served by Myriam, but decided to cater for ourselves subsequently as there are plenty of bakeries and other shops (Note shops do not open on Sundays) locally. There are also lots of restaurants both typical Alsace food and international in the town. Do try the wine of the Jund vinyard, you can taste on site.
We arrived much later than expected, but rang ahead to warn of our delay and there was no problem in the son of the house waiting for our arrival, despite having a celebration to go to!

It's not super fancy, but very pleasant, cozy, clean and friendly with a great location for access to Colmar as well as a nearby private parking garage to make exploring Alsace-Lorraine easy. I highly recommend it due to the value.

This is not really a hotel. It's more like staying with friends, who happen to live in a 500 year old house. Maison Martin Jund oozes character and the family that runs it are very friendly. Plus, they are very happy to let you taste the lovely organic wines they produce! Definitely the best value accommodations in Colmar.

We booked the room with the terrace and thoroughly enjoyed our 3 night stay. The room was huge with separate kitchen and bathroom. There is no air conditioning and we happened to arrive when the temps were in the upper 80's. The first night we were a bit uncomfortable with the heat, lumpy bed and the noise downstairs in the courtyard. Even so, we would recommend this winery/chambres du hote if you book the terrace room. Sitting outside on the terrace sipping one of Maison Jund's wines (we liked both the Reisling and the Gwertz), eating local bread, olives, cheese and sausages is an experience to remember fondly for years to come.

Just off a 2 night stay at Martin Jund so this rating is as fresh as can be.Basically, this is your typical no frills/good value lodging.I was given the studio 5 and was overly impressed considering the price of 45 euros/night.I immediately wanted to stay for one more night but unfortunately there was nothing available. The room was impeccable with my only complaint being towards the shower. It has a shower head that just hangs free with no installation on the wall so basically you have to make it stick to the wall with the help of the small suction pad just below th shower head (good luck in trying to do so ).The location is just perfect with an excellent restaurant (le petit Schlossberg) just steps away from the place and a convenient laundromat on the next street (Ruest).Parking is cheap at 5 euros/night and just a minute walk down the street. I also like how safe it is being in the backyard of a cute appartment house and accessible by opening a garage door .Myriam was also very accommodating by renting the parking space for one more night although i wasn't spending the third night at their place.Be careful if you rent a room with a balcony during the "vendanges".All the rooms with a balcony have a view on the courtyard and the grapes are being mechanically pressed there until late at night so I'm thinking that the noise might be a bit of a concern to some (although I did not hear any complaints while being there).

We (me, husband and two teenaged sons) stayed at Martin Jund in July 2009. The suite was not available so Myriam recommended two rooms, which turned out to be more than ideal. First, we have always travelled with the philosophy of living as much like the locals as possible. We don't want 4 star hotels and fancy restaurants. We want to walk to the town, buy our food at the local stores, and just experience life. Martin Jund was ideal for us. After arriving (and our GPS helped find the place) Myriam greeted us and showed us where to park. Considering the affordability of the accommodation, 5 Euros for parking per night was a bargain.

After unpacking, I went for a walk and was absolutely gobsmacked to find that the B and B was literally at the edge of the most beautiful pedestrain-oriented historically-preserved town that I had ever visited. Everything we needed, the Monoprix, stores, laundromat, bank was steps away.

Colmar is an amazing town, and we spent 3 days exploring every street. It is a great blend of the French and German cultures. At night, after most of the tourists left, we would walk through the beautifully lit cobblestone streets with the locals. Colmar was also an easy drive to Strasbourg and the wine towns in the region.

The rooms were spacious but not fancy. For us, though, they were perfect. We appreciated the small kitchenette and the refrigerator. One of my sons plays guitar, and he spent time in his room strumming away. Myriam's grandchild loved dancing to his playing; it was very sweet.

Finally, the wine was wonderful. We took some home with us and toasted our stay at Martin Jund.
