As per other reviews, it's friendly, homey, quirky, and in a great location. A great bargain! Don't expect the Ritz, of course, but this is really a gem. The whole place smells like wine. It has some cool retro decor. And the breakfasts are great.

The Maison Martin Jund is like nowhere we've ever stayed. The building itself is like something out of a storybook (like most of Colmar). We stayed in the balcony chamber, a comfortable room with a good amount of space, a small kitchen, and a funny little bathroom. Since we were there over the holidays, we never got a chance to visit the winery, but we did buy some of their wines at the Christmas markets and they were wonderful. We also loved the big white dog who greeted us each time we went in or out.

The hotel is rambling, with rooms tucked in every imaginable corner - don't stay here if you have mobility problems or a lot of luggage.

We would have given this place four stars based on the affordable price alone. However, while the family is helpful and pleasant, it's not really a full-service hotel (you're at the mercy of the family's schedule and the rooms aren't serviced during your stay). We had breakfast one morning, and although the price was good, there are so many good bakeries and cafes nearby, it's a better choice to venture out or prepare breakfast in your room if you have a kitchenette.

For the price, though, you can't beat it, and Maison Martin Jund is a perfect option for those on a budget.

Room Tip: Get a clear answer about how many stairs are involved if you are concerned about mobility.

We traveled as a group of 5. We emailed the owners an hour before we would arrive and received a quick response. We were informed the available rooms for a triple and a double would be the balcony room and Room #6. The rate was acceptable to us. We arrived an hour later and were greeted warmly and shown our rooms. The furnishings were a bit shabby but clean so no complaints. The rooms were large and obviously quite old with huge beams in the ceiling. Each room had a fully equipped kitchen although we had no plans for cooking. We were given a tourist map of the area and told that we could park on the street if we could find a spot. There was an option to pay 5 or 6 Euros/day to park, but the owner seemed to think street parking would be preferable. The beds were fairly comfortable but we did have a tendency to roll to the middle. We woke up early so it was not a problem, but for anyone who likes to sleep late, Room 6 might not be the best choice. There is a school yard next door and you can hear the school children gathering before school in the morning. The bathroom was small and the wallpaper peeling a little here and there. We had great connection to wi-fi from both rooms (once we rebooted the router in the balcony room). Both rooms had modern TVs and we were able to connect the camera to the TV to review our pictures from the trip. We had breakfast there the first morning (coffee, bread, cheese, jams & grape juice) for 6.5 Euro but elected to eat in our room the rest of the trip. We were able to get some of the local sparkling wine, some cheese & bread from the nearby Monoprix for breakfast.

We found the Maison Martin Jund to be perfectly situated for walking around town, sightseeing, eating and drinking. Colmar is a great base for touring the Wine Road as well.

The family that owns Maison Martin Jund make organic wine and run this casual little hotel. Their wines are excellent and we bought 10 bottles of the different organic Alsatian wines, from Pinot Gris to Reislings. The breakfast at 6.50 euros was excellent--fine breads, croissants, cheeses, pears, and homemade jams plus great coffee. The rooms are quirky--a jumble of furniture styles, periods, and colors, with floors that slope, but our little apt with kitchen had everything you need, even a tv. And the up-to-date bathroom had a good shower and even a nice view. The breakfast room has accordions everywhere and the owners' dog is a big white friendly dog. If you don't need everything to be just so, or corporate-hotel looking, this place is great.

Room Tip: Be sure to have a free wine-tasting before you go and the breakfast is great value.

Lovely, unique place to stay. Friendly and helpful proprietors. very enjoyable. We rented a room with a kitchenette, which worked out great.

Normally we travel by train, but we were at the end of a driving trip across France so we had a car. It was somewhat hard to find because we did not have a detailed map or GPS. However that was our fault, not theirs! We loved Colmar and Alsace....when we return we'll stay at Maison Martin Jund.

Room Tip: If you are going to drive there, be sure you have a detailed map...or GPS.

If you value sterility and uniformity then stay at a Holiday Inn or Ibis and stay away from this place. If you want real character and a place to stay at a reasonable price, Maison Jund is a jewel. My wife and I stayed here on our honeymoon. This centuries old, half-timbered winery has character like you wouldn't believe. It is as if one is staying in a 18th Century Inn with 21st Century ammenities. I can't recommend it highly enough. Also, we bought a bottle of their organic wine. It was very good.

We had two nights there while exploring Alsace wine region. The ancient half timbered house is charmingly chaotic, with farming equipment, musical instruments, and a friendly white dog. The owners are the Jund (pron. 'yoond') family of 4th Gen winemakers. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, furnished with antique pieces.
As wine fans, we did a tasting with one of the brothers, Sabastien. He was very informative and friendly - sharing some of his fab Alsatian wines with us.
Lovely breakfast of tea/coffee plus croissant, home made jams and bread, plus apple juice.

Room Tip: Try the wines!
