When in Colmar you have to do the trip on the canal in little Venice. The first part of the trip takes you out of little Venice and upstream for a little way. There is not much to see here unless like us you are lucky enough to see a bright blue dragonfly. Back in the center the trip is much more enjoyable with some fine views of the brightly coloured houses and covered market.

Beautiful. Well kept. Clean. Buildings cared for and just a lovely place to spend some time. The water is clear and there was no evidence of litter. A surprise to see so many fish swimming in a town centre canal. The residents are obviously proud of their town and put a lot of effort into keeping it at a high standard .

Colmar is a lovely town made more retesting by "little Venice " in the heart of the old town. A winding route of canals , restaurants and houses multi coloured and covered in flowers - very whimsical . This is a great spot for a coffee to watch the world go by or a special meal

A small area of the old town - defined by the small river that goes through it.
You can take a small boat over it and make a more leisurely visit of the place through its waterways

Floating on the river through many colourful houses and lovely greenery and flowers is like a dream. The boat is silent and the commentary is done in English and French. After tramping the tiled roads and pathways of the city, it's a wonderful way to rest your feet and see little Venice from a new angle. It really is so picturesque.
