“Old Gothic Cathedral.”
Reviewed August 14, 2013

The Cathedral is of gothic design and was built between 1235 and 1365. It is situated in the old Town area of Colmar. Inside may not be as spectaculer as some other cathedrals however it is still nice to visit.

“Nice Stop out of the weather”
Reviewed August 7, 2013

This is not the biggest or fanciest cathedral, but it offers a good place to duck in from rain or sun (but not humidity). The building is constructed in stone of various shades, like a stone calico cat! Inside, the stained glass is beautiful. When we where there in summer, there was a stork on the back roof nesting. (Nearby is the small, old covered market and gate, with two cross-vaults. Check it out if you're in the vicinity.

“Place of rest at a busy tourist town”
Reviewed July 30, 2013

The Church of St martin is a place of rest amidst the crowded streets and busy restaurants of the tourist town Colmar. We liked it very much. Too bad the picture of the Madonna with the Roses was not at the church when we visited.

“concert”
Reviewed July 11, 2013

The Colmar music festival holds its main concerts here...acoustics were surprisingly good. Entire church is lovely.

“Distinctive Features make it worth a Visit”
Reviewed June 27, 2013

Some of the more distinctive aspects of the church are that it is built of beautiful yellow sandstone (with splotches of red and pink) from the Vosges Mountains about nine miles away, it has a huge stork nest on its roof (when we were there it included an adult stork and a baby), an outside clock with a "IIII" instead of a "IV" as a Roman numeral, and it has a couple of "Judensaue" or "Jewish sow" on the outside, a remnant Jewish persecution in the area going back to the Middle Ages. Inside it has a stained glass window of a beardless Christ and some other beautiful stained glass. There are many other attractions in this incredibly beautiful city that merit more time, but it is certainly worth a short visit.
