“Quiet night by the Station”
Reviewed January 18, 2014

We stopped overnight on 22/12 on our way to Brig. Surprisingly quiet room cconsidering that rail station outside. The evening meal was excellent. The Christmas markets were in full swing and there are plenty of things to see and do in Colmar

I received a very good room in the backyard, very calm with a balcony. Staff was very welcoming, wishing to help for everything I need. The hotel is just in front of the railway station, 1mn very convenient if you come by train.
The breakfast, very nice also, very good home made jams .
I travel a lot, this is the first time I am happy with a french hotel. Everything was working, all lights, hot water etc..
The only minus was the lack of light in the room, at nightime.
They even offer to change towels in the evening, in addition to the new ones they gave us when they cleaned the room.

Room Tip: Back yard are quieter

We were pleasantly surprised when we walked into what can only be described as the largest European hotel room that we have ever had the pleasure to stay in. We have lived in Europe for 14 years and have explored extensively -- this hotel, while a bit on the shabby chic side, was truly a gem. The bathroom could have housed a couple of king-sized beds and included a bath and a separate shower, the bedroom was enormous with comfy beds and a beautiful view of the train station, the restaurant was lovely and the cafe comfy. It was situated in an ideal location and was perfectly quiet even though it was across from the station. I would definitely stay there again.

Room Tip: We stayed in the triple room across from the station. Wonderful!

We stayed here as a party of 40 on our way to Switzerland for Christmas. The rooms are superb, very well furnished and spotlessly clean. The beds are comfortable and the bathroom mirror was accessible and well lit which seems to be unusual these days. All in all 5* plus for everything.

The location of the hotel is great as the station is just over the road.

The staff are very helpful and all in all we had a superb start to our holiday.

We stayed one night as part of a group of 40. The hotel staff handled this mass invasion with ease and we were quickly in our large twin bedded room. The beds were extremely comfortable and the room nicely furnished and very clean - we wanted for nothing. The hotel restaurant was busy but proved more than capable of handling large numbers with a tasty and filling evening meal. The breakfast buffet was similarly good. The hotel is conveniently located just outside the railway station which means you can drop your bags within a few minutes of leaving the train. It is then a short walk to the beautiful old town which, especially with the Christmas market, was a treasure trove of old buildings and shopping. What a pity it was only one night, cannot recommend enough.

Room Tip: Asking for a twin room might help.

Grand hotel Bristol is front of train station and a 10 minutes walking to old downtown.
Room is confortable with nice amenities.
Free wifi,
Hepful staff
I had one problem:
Room was not completely sound proof.Firstly, they took me to a room adjacent to the street.
I asked to change .
I went to other room in street opposite side, and no problems with street noise, but I could hear guests speaking in neighbor rooms, and maids speaking at morning.

The Grand Hotel Bristol is right across the street from the railway station. It is an older hotel but restored and decorated to good standard.
Our double room (112) was small but nicely furnished with double bed, two upright chairs, a stool and table. There was a small balcony to the room that looked out on the station building. Built-in wardrobe and drawer space was in the small lobby. The bathroom was small as well but had the necessary. The bed was comfortable with amazingly smooth bed linen.
We had one night here just before Christmas and had a set dinner comprising a very tasty leek and potato pie followed by chicken. We both avoided the chocolate dessert as we were both replete.
After dinner we had a short walk to admire the tasteful Christmas display in front of the station.
There are electric shutters to seal the windows although we did not lower them. The windows were well sealed plus heavy drapes ensured that despite the location it was very, very quiet. We slept for the first half of the night soundly but not so well afterwards because we were too warm under the duvets.
The hotel has two restaurants. Breakfast was served in the Auberge, the rustic style one. It was a good and wide choice of buffet but short orders could also be taken if required.
We were very pleased with our short stay.
