“Very nice property, nice stay”
Reviewed April 3, 2013

This hotel is right across the street from the station and convenient to it. It is a 10-15 minute walk to the center of town, however, but by definition no hotel is close to both the station and the sites.

Some reviewers have commented that you can hear the trains, but they did not bother us. Our room faced the station, and while we were aware of them at times, it was not disturbing or very loud. Rick Steves says in his review of this hotel that it doesn't have character. I disagree. Our room was a triple, not huge, but adequate. It was bright and clean, and the bathroom newly redone. The staircases have beautiful stained glass windows and marble stairs. The place is full of period furniture, and is very comfortable. We ate in the "fancy" restaurant and it was great. Service was excellent, too.

The staff was pleasant and tried to be helpful, but you'd be better off asking at the TI offices, since the staff did not have accurate information on some things. But, all in all, it was a pleasant stay and I would stay there again.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on a higher floor to limit noise.

I stayed one night in this hotel. The reception was ok. Not overly friendly but nothing to complain about. The rooms were dark but clean. Since its just across from the train station it was a bit noisy. Their was a bit of noise from the other rooms also. It lacked charm in my opinion.
The restaurant was very nice. I have had better but it was good food well cooked.

There is nothing special to say about this hotel. Bed are good, bathroom are OK.
It is about 10 minutes walking distance from touristic part of town (where xmas market is).
There is one outstanding point to mention is their restaurants. They have great food and excellent service and a selection of local wine to die for .. (we even went the next day to buy some directly at the producer... )

Arrived 10:30pm on TGV from Paris, very hepful English speaking reception staff at the hotel and with a comfortable room over looking the station square that was suitably decorated for Christmas. Although too late for food in the hotel auberge that evening, the friendly waiter suggested a special Christmas beer and good local wine as consolation. We spent a couple of days visiting Christmas markets in Colmar, and the nearby villages of Kayserberg and Riqewihr. Good local tourist buses (Navettes de Noel) organised for visits to Christmas markets in the villages that left from the station square. Can really recommend the auberge at the hotel if you are looking to try good regional food. The auberge was busy (lots of locals eating and celebrating), relaxed and noisy, but with great attentive staff who took time to recommend and ensure we enjoyed the meal...... and we did enjoy two really evening meals here . Breakfasts were good also... a really nice buffet with local bits like the apple juice, jams and bread.....no need for lunch:) . Overall a good hotel with very helpful attentive staff, many of them English speaking and especially forgiving of my schoolboy French (unlike some hotel staff in France). If you are going to Colmar, and it is an attractive town at Christmas, I would recommend the Bristol. Much, much better than my experience with Best Western hotels in the UK.

We arrived at 1.30pm and our room wasn’t ready, so we left our bags and looked at the fabulous Colmar markets. The staff in the hotel were helpful and friendly and spoke good English. We found parking on the street nearby for free. The town centre is 10 to 15 minute walk.

The room was at the front of the hotel looking onto the square in front of the station and was quiet and comfortable. The shower only bathroom was a “wet room” with no shower curtain. The beds were large and good to sleep on. The flat screen TV had channel in several different languages.

We ate in the hotels Michelin star restaurant - RENDEZ-VOUS DE CHASSE which had lovely food with a lot of nice nibbles between courses such as toffee cherry tomatoes, potato and lemon soup, truffles etc. The service and food were excellent. The meal was expensive but worth a splurge.

We also enjoyed the breakfast buffet, which had plenty of choice, but the “hot food” was cold.

Overall would recommend.

We stayed here to visit the Christmas Markets and were not dissappointed. The room we had was clean, warm and very comfortable. We did not have any meals here so cannot comment on the food.
The location was really handy for the station and just a 10 minute walk into the pretty town of Colmar. All the staff we dealt with were friendly and helpful. We had a lovely stay and would be happy to recommend this hotel.

We looked forward to a weekend without the kids and wanted to take advantage by visiting a place where you’re better off on foot; Colmar. Traveling by train, the Bristol seemed to be ideal: right across the railway station… although being part of a big chain made us hesitate to stay there. But oh surprise, what a pleasant discovery. Comfortable room with a spotless lavatory and a bed that lets you sleep like you never slept before: heavenly. Likewise, the hotel’s Auberge-Brasserie is beyond expectations: great setting, delicious food that’s generously served and prepared to perfection. True Alsace tradition. And best of all, the prices are very reasonable for such high quality. Personnel also needs to be commended – in both the hotel and the restaurant. Fabulous people, professional and friendly. Everybody goes out of their way to make you feel welcome. The city itself is beautiful to visit (even in the rain) and there are numerous architectural landmarks. The same applies to the nearby town of Eguisheim which truly deserves the name of "The most beautiful village of France". A weekend to remember. A place to recommend. People to praise. And a budget that won’t explode. Perfect.
