Grand Hotel Bristol

Stayed here for 4 nights. Arrived late in the evening and had fast, efficient check in- no need to fill in any forms or even show ID. Our room was on 3rd floor, a bit too small and outdated for 130 euro/ night without breakfast in a hotel next to the train station.
The room had a strange layout- a tiny hall with bathroom on one side and WC on the other, then the actual room, just big enough to fit the double bed (but with two single mattresses and duvets, not what you expect when booking a double room) and some furniture. The room was made even smaller by a glass door opening into it, a total nuisance at all times- it didn't close properly, when open took up half the space and made access to wardrobe tricky and didn't seem to serve any purpose as you could still hear the noises from the corridor. The soundproofing between rooms is not very good, you can hear your neighbours if they're of a more vivacious nature.
But overall was comfortable enough, clean enough, there was a small hot drinks tray, TV (but little to watch in English)- the usual in a chain hotel, impersonal and characterless for such a beautiful town.
However, centre of town is within walking distance and it's convenient for travel with the train station and buses across the road, as well as a bike rental shop with very reasonable rates (but busy). It has a Michelin star restaurant and as a brasserie that serves food from 10 am. There is another cafe nearby but we didn't try it.
Overall, a little disappointing and expectation raised too high after reading some of the other reviews. Maybe when booking on the internet you don't get one of their better rooms...

This has all the appearances of the old fashioned "Railway Hotel"on the outside, but it's not on the inside. Situated opposite the railway station, and a short walk to the old town. Great to be warmly welcomed on arrival, and overall the staff are very friendly. Bedroom was good size, and there was a wide range of choice for breakfast.

I stayed here with my wife, 2 year old daughter, and Labrador. Everybody was very friendly and treated us great. The location was good, about 10 minutes from the historic part of town. If you are traveling by train to Colmar and staying at this Hotel, you will only need to cross the street to get to the hotel.

We booked a triple room and it was very spacious with plenty of room for my husband, my mother-in-law, our 2 year-old (in a travel cot), and me. The staff was friendly and the room was clean. The hotel is very well located if you're using the train. The air conditioner was a bit weak. The breakfast was very expensive, so we walked across the street to the train station to get pastries for breakfast.

We stayed at the new building of this hotel, attached to the old one, in a spacious room with a queen size bed that offered a good night sleep. The hotel is situated 600 meters from a recreation park with kids' activities and 1000 meters from Little Venice in the old town

Hotel is clean and fair rooms, looks nice from outside, right outside station and breakfast is good**. But even best rooms very very small, no bath and breakfast is the most expensive ever experienced at 16 Euro and we normally stay in 5 star hotels. Parking is 15 Euros, Rooms can also be very dark esp when not facing busy street, we tried a few rooms. A little bit of a walk to Colmar. However we found Colmar a major disappointment, its just an average town with a few run down half timber houses, and lots of tourist rip-offs, nothing special at all - do yourself a favour, bypass Colmar and just go to Eigesheim, I'll bet Eigesheim is what you were actually looking for !

Room Tip: Face the street or its depressing.

I did a quick visit to Colmar to view the amazing Isenheim Altarpiece and the Best Western Bristol fit my requirements perfectly. Key is the fact that it is 30 meters from the front door of the quaint Wilhelmine Colmar Train Station. I had a rather traditional bright room looking out onto the station square. Internet was a bit spotty. Room had a water boiler and instant coffee. It is a bit of a walk to the center, but I knew this in advance and did not mind the walk, although the first few blocks are not the prettiest in what is a very beautiful jewel-like town. The front desk was helpful and efficient. I did not eat at the hotel restaurant, but it was always full on what was not necessarily a busy weekday, so it must be good. I would note that the train line is busy with freight trains, so there was some noise at night...I like this but many might not.

Room Tip: Something overlooking the train station and Vosges beyond if you like views, although the train nois...
