Went to Happy Seasons with my husband as a change from the excellent Red Chilli on Portland Street. As others have pointed out, the decor is shocking - looks cheap and scruffy, with slightly grubby conference style chairs. The service is brusque, and we were initially given a dirty plate (only a smear of dough from making the food - not unwashed).
However, when the food arrived, we were totally blown away. Retrospectively, we probably chose the wrong things for mains - they were way above average, but "standard" Chinese menu options so we likely didn't get the best possible experience. The starters were divine - cuttlefish cakes and meat and peanut dim sum prepared perfectly with beautiful, delicate tastes and textures.
If you can get past the aesthetics, it's well worth a visit - just not the place for a first date!
