Been going here for the past few years now on a regular basis and can honestly say we have never had a meal that was anything other than excellent. Have recommended to many others who also now go on a regular basis. The staff are always warm, friendly and polite, the little touches like free prawn crackers with dips when you sit down and the melon and orange slice after your meal are lovely. The wipes and warm hand towels are nice touches also. The wine list is also extensive and typically priced for a restaurant. The starters are fantastic, especially the mixed dim sum and there is plenty of choice to suit all and tastes, whether you like the more traditional chinese food or not. The duck is amazing and the sodt noodles are superb. The decor is simple and understated and the general ambience is great, no matter what time of day and how busy the place is. Every time we have been it has always been understandably busy, but they try their hardest to find you a table, even if you haven't booked one. Never tried the desserts yet, as always been too full after the starters and mains, but they look every bit as delicious and hope to try them one day (will have to fast first!) I can not recommend this restaurant enough, the atmosphere and food here definitely make this the best Chinese in Manchester.

Forget Chinatown in Manchester the Rice Bowl (although may people refer to it as the Golden Rice Bowl) on Cross Street is much better than the "all you can eat buffets" proliferating there. The restuarant has been there and in the same family for over 40 years which says a lot about it's staying power right in the heart of town.
We went for Father's Day and had the set menu A. The soups were fine but they really excelled with the crispy dim sum, which were the best we have ever tasted - whole king prawns in the won ton, superb lamb samosas etc. etc. The mains were every bit as good, with a real variety of tastes, textures and meats. They even changed one of the dishes without extra charge. The service was excellent and attentive. We were allowed time between courses and the wine list, though short, had a fair choice without breaking the bank. Overall it isn't cheap costing us about £25 a head for 3 superb courses and plenty of wine and soft drinks.

I come here about once every couple of months and no matter what time of day or whether it's weekend or mid week this place is always brilliant. The staff are always efficient, polite and friendly and the food is always perfect.
The amount of choice on the menu means it can be quite difficult to choose but having sampled most of the menu there is nothing I could fault and the staff are more than happy to help you choose. The food is reasonably priced and they do some great sharing starters and set menu's if you have a large group or want to try something different. You get complimentary prawn crackers with dips and fruit to end the meal.
The decor is tasteful and understated which gives the place a lovely laid back atmosphere. They also do a take away service.
The only thing I can fault is that there is no disabled access and this will obviously make it difficult or impossible for some people to get there.

Great place to go for a Friday night tea. The £9.95 early evening menu is good value and the atmosphere is good. Food is better than most Chinese.
