I ordered the calamari starter - in batter - and was taken aback as to how primitive it was - they just dumped a plate full of this stuff with batter as thick and greasy as one would expect to see on a battered sausage in a chip shop. It was just horrible - the first bite caused the whole of the calamari to fall out onto the plate. Dreadful stuff.

The second course was enormous with enough food to sink a battle-ship - a hot noodle soup that just tasted of chillt - and not a lot else - after 1/2 hour of wading through this stuff I just gave up. It was a hot - tastless monotonous mess.

The service was okay - not particularly friendly - just efficient.

Not a good eating experience.

This is a good place to go if you've got real Chinese people with you. Otherwise the menu is a bit tricky to navigate. We were lucky in that we had a friend from mainland China with us, and she helped us order marvellous food.

Food is good and the chilli is very nice. You may miss the entrance though but it is opposite the Natwest cash machines.

Chose this at random as we had decided on a Chinese meal. The reason we decided on this restaurant was that looking through the window the tables were set out well and it looked very clean and welcoming.
We were not disappointed and thoroughly enjoyed our food and drinks. Will call again if in Manchester for a meal.

We are regular customers at Red Chilli in China town. Once you've eaten there, you can never go back to any Chinese take-away. You need to know what to order though. As we can't read Chinese menu, we have ended up ordering not-so-authentic taste menus before. By trial and error, we now always order fried morning glory vegetables ( Tong Choi with garlic sauce), chilli eel with less chillies ( as it can be full of chillies if not instructed!), fried King prawns with duck egg yolk ( without shells ), Mutton with coriander and sometimes braised Pork with vegetables. Not the healthiest options available there but they are just delicious! Portions are so large that I always end up taking them back home! It does not have the grandest setting but if you're only after good authentic Chinese food, highly recommended. We would go there again!
