Description: The Metropolitan's smart & classic decor reflects the building’s colourful history as a fine Victorian railway hotel. Behind the bar, tall library-style ladders reaching almost to the ceiling rest on a display of fine wines and premium spirits.Treat yourself to an afternoon tea in the relaxing library area with its comfortable armchairs, open fire and well-stacked bookshelves. Ifyou’re dining, take a seat in our elegant conservatory restaurant – light and airy in the daytime and warm and intimate come the evening, it’s the perfect setting to indulge in gorgeous home-cooked cuisine. We serve food all day from breakfast onwards and a there’s a selection of seasonal menus and daily specials to choose from. Our outdoor bar is a wonderful place to enjoy quality drink, fine food and balmy temperatures. You don’t have to wait for a sunny daythough; with its huge outdoor canopy you can dine alfresco whatever theweather.

“didsbury scenery”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 29, 2013

At the heart of West Didsbury, Metropolitan is the destination for a night out, checking out on single ladies / men and pretend to be a middle class hipster.
It has a nice garden which fills up with mentioned people when it is sunny and have nice selection of beer and wine.
Food is generally average to good depends on what you are eating.
Not very expensive and people are friendly.

“Top top top”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 28, 2013 via mobile

Had one of the best roast dinners of my life last Sunday here. It's not cheap but it's worth it. Nice atmosphere but have known it to be full of morons from time to time in the bar. Still, Sunday afternoon I can't recommend anything more in the area. Tasty treat.

“excellent service-made our night really special”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 26, 2013

We booked the Metropolitan for a surprise birthday meal for my Mum's 75th birthday. We booked as it has nice food and ambience. The staff could not have been nicer-helping us to bring out birthday cakes etc. Service was really efficient and yet unobtrusive, and there was no sense of being rushed out the door! They accommodated 17 of us and everybody had a really great time. Thoroughly recommended!

“Great atmosphere, disappointing food”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 17, 2013

Finally made it to the met for Sunday lunch- it was busy. We ordered the Sunday roast- chicken / roast beef. The roast beef was rated "very good". The chicken was less spectacular. Huge portions. The vegetables were overdone, and the roasties were particularly poor- dry, dehydrated.
Service was efficient and friendly, and I'd certainly go back for drinks. Might give the food a miss though.

“Good lunch pity about the change in breakfast menu”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 7, 2013

First the good, went in fir Sunday lunch, very busy but very friendly staff and excellent food, good value for money . Will certainly go again.

The new breakfast menu is a real shammer, traditional breakfasts here in front of the fire reading the papers was an excellent way to start the day. Friendly staff with tea that was made properly rather than a tea bag in a cup and good food at reasonable prices. But they have taken to do ready made breakfasts that the staff can put in the microwave. So quality, breadth of menu and value have disappeared.

Such a shame, please go back to your old cooked breakfasts or people will stop coming.
