“Good but pricey and too much salt!”
Reviewed October 30, 2013

The food was very good, cooked in front of you combining entertainment with some very skilled cooking - a great combination for both parents and children!
The service was excellent with plenty of staff on hand to tend to our needs.
While the food is good it is a little pricey and not somewhere I would go too often for that reason.
For me the food was cooked with too much salt - I guess that is down to personnel preference but think it would probably be too much for the average palette.

“Good food but way overpriced”
Reviewed October 27, 2013

I went here with my partner today, the service was polite and friendly, the menu was extensive, the restaurant nice and pretty to look at, the chef cooking behind the table was entertaining with his skills, however the food was just 'okay'.

I think for the price I was paying for my chicken teriyaki, I would have expected much more for this, the sushi was good and delicious.

I find it strange that on our table, there was a couple sat there already however we were sat right next to them rather than spaced out on the other side - was a bit awkward in the beginning when we thought it was going to be a bit more of a romantic experience etc.

Overall, a good/okay experience but the price you pay for does not reflect the fine dining you'd expect.

“Entertaining experience”
Reviewed October 24, 2013

First time to a Japanese restaurant so didn't now what to expect, seating arrangement is probably for about 20 people to sit in a square with the chef in the middle, he entertains with his knife skills and art in cooking, the place certainly is popular, a good place to go to be entertained whilst dining. Did I eat enough? I could have eaten more. Good value for money? probably not. Would I go here again? probably, but only to introduce somebody else to the experience.

“End of term knees up”
Reviewed October 21, 2013

WE decided to hold our end of the year bash, and because one of us was leaving, we all thought going into Manchester would be fun. Because a few of the girl's had been to Sapporo Teppanyaki before and enjoyed the food and atmosphere we all agreed this was the ideal place to start. The atmosphere was very good, the way we were entertained by the chef's was excellent, how ever the food was I felt a little bland and quite expensive for what we actually got to eat. The drinks were that expensive that we only had one drink and as soon as the meal was over we left.

“More about entertainment than food-a disappointment”
Reviewed October 19, 2013

Went with high expectations as we were going to Japan the week after. In all honesty it bears little, if any, relationship to anything Japanese. There a meal is made up of very many tiny courses and a large variety of tastes, and made and presented with the greatest of care and precision....... and the Japanese would be appalled at throwing food as per this restaurant.
And, it has to be said, the food at Sapporo Teppanyaki was really only mediocre. Why leave the meat until the very end when you have filled up on cheap potatoes?
The whole place was far too large and noisy, at times it was hard even to talk. We noticed the people near us were getting fed up too and left early.
As the website says,"watching the theatre unfold before them"-this sums it up.
If you want a slight taste of Japan, buy a Sushi from M&S for £4...it's more authentic.
