Description: It's not often you find the perfect neighbourhood restaurant with a stylish dining room, stellar food and friendly service but Rhubarb in West Disbury, Manchester, ticks all of the boxes. With quaint window boxes, mulberry coloured feature walls and walnut chairs, the dining room is light and airy, decorated with graphic floral canvases and filled with fashionable locals and Mancurian regulars who keep coming back for the cosy ambience and convivial atmosphere. The hearty international menu at Rhubarb includes favourites such as the Porcini mushroom risotto dressed with truffle oil and Parmesan cheese; the slow-cooked lamb shank served with pumpkin and cheese mash and root vegetables; and the skate wing cooked with capers, lemon and herbs with fried potatoes.

Goats cheese salad - duck, greens, beetroot and mash - brownie with baileys and cashew ice cream, all absolutely delicious and good value in the week, will definitely be going back! My friend loved the veggie option too. Great atmosphere, lovely waitress. Folk bar next door is great for a drink before/after too.

I am glad I didn't read some of the negative reviews before booking Rhubarb. For me the food was excellent, the staff, although young and perhaps students?were very polite, and although I was with a partner who was coeliac we found the restaurant very accommodating.
Yes the restaurant is not that big and the lay out could be better, however for £37 including 2 drinks for two of us before a trip to Cineworld on the earlier diner,it was good value!

I was really looking forward to a food experience but it was a let down.
Porcini risotto had excellent taste and flavour however the rice was over cooked.
Calamari with chilli. Very poor, frozen calamari, very basic
Main course, duck, horseradish mash and beetroot.
Requested pink duck, received medium to well (over cooked). Duck was nice but unfortunately all the flavour combinations on the plate did not work.
6oz fillet steak, great flavour and stilton wine sauce was yummy, but the steak was cooked medium to well instead of medium to rare as requested.
Maybe the kitchen was having a bad night.
Desserts and cheese with port was lovely.
The waiting staff are not good. Inexperienced school leavers. The ladies toilet had no toilet roll in the holder. Our wine was not poured. Certainly not customer service focused.
Not a terrible experience but this restaurant should not be recommended in the Michelin guide.

Don't bother. The strangest attitude towards customer service. Put me in mind of school dinners at an over priced under performing public school. Miserable waitresses without manners and little knowledge of their menu. Avoid, if you have and special dietary requirements or you'll be made to feel awkward and unwelcome. Very unaccomadating kitchen and average food
