Description: El Rincón de Rafa is Manchester's longest-serving independent Spanish restaurant, having been in the city centre for 22 years. A family run establishment, El Rincón is regularly described as a 'hidden gem' and offers a relaxed, authentic experience, brought to Manchester from Málaga by owner Rafael Cabrera-Vargas. El Rincón offers a large range of tapas and main courses (including paellas) and a fully stocked bar with a huge variety of Spanish beers (both bottles and draught) and wines. The off the beaten track but central location of El Rincón (close to the Hilton hotel - turn down St John's St from Deansgate and take the first right) ensures an unbeatable authentic Spanish atmosphere, but with hidden nooks and crannies for a more intimate feel. The restaurant doesn't accept bookings for two, seating couples at a number of tables on a first come, first served basis. Customers are also welcome to visit just the bar for food and/or drinks. Que aproveche!

It is advisable to book if your party is over 3 or more, thoroughly enjoy it every time I go, extremely busy place no matter what time you go, atmosphere is fantastic, staff very attentive and food is as nearest you will get to authentic Spanish fare .... We had our wedding reception here 9yrs ago... This place is a must ...

We'd heard great things about this place so booked two months in advance for a group of us. On the night staff told us we had to be finished and out within an hour and a half which no one mentioned when booking, there seemed to only be a choice of two set menus (the cheapest was £14.95per head) the food was average, the service was average, there was a communication problem with staff and some of us didn't get what we asked for, the churros were poor and overpriced and it all felt a bit rushed. I would not go back.

It took us a long time to find, but well worth it. Do not expect anything fancy, but the atmosphere makes up for it. Food is to die for, so much choice and the staff are amazing. we have been going now for about eleven/twelve years maybe a bit longer. So if you have never been, what are you waiting for. I cannot give a cost for the meal, as it all depends on what and how much you have, our average is between £35/£40 with a beer first then wine. for both of us. Love it.

You need to know about this tapas bar as you won't just happen upon it as it is parallel to Deansgate but not on the main track. This little gem is open every day which is handy if you are planning to go to concerts or shopping and it is very busy on Fridays and Saturdays so reservation is recommended. This is very authentic and is clearly well supported by the Spanish community which is a good recommendation in itself. The staff are very friendly and will speak to you in English or if you wish to try out your Spanish they are quite charmed!! We shared some tapas to start amongst our party and then followed with a mixed paella which was very good. There is good value to be had and for those who wish to watch football whilst having a few drinks with tapas then this is hard to beat! Families are welcome as is the norm in authentic Spanish restaurants. Will certainly go back for pre concert food and drinks especially when this is 5 minutes away from Bridgewater Hall.

Hidden tapas restaurant, small no frills venue with good atmosphere and friendly helpful staff. Good reasonably priced menu selection with good sized well prepared dishes.
