Description: El Rincón de Rafa is Manchester's longest-serving independent Spanish restaurant, having been in the city centre for 22 years. A family run establishment, El Rincón is regularly described as a 'hidden gem' and offers a relaxed, authentic experience, brought to Manchester from Málaga by owner Rafael Cabrera-Vargas. El Rincón offers a large range of tapas and main courses (including paellas) and a fully stocked bar with a huge variety of Spanish beers (both bottles and draught) and wines. The off the beaten track but central location of El Rincón (close to the Hilton hotel - turn down St John's St from Deansgate and take the first right) ensures an unbeatable authentic Spanish atmosphere, but with hidden nooks and crannies for a more intimate feel. The restaurant doesn't accept bookings for two, seating couples at a number of tables on a first come, first served basis. Customers are also welcome to visit just the bar for food and/or drinks. Que aproveche!

we must have hit a good day compared to backpacker.
The food that was presented was excellent individual and it did not matter that it arrived at different times just take your time and enjoy, order extra bread to clean the plate and try the house red.
staff were freindly and helpful.

We recently visited this restaurant and this visit was disappointing. We ordered about 7 dishes and they were served one at a time. We had to send two of the dishes back as they were almost cold, which disrupted our meal even more than in the first instance of them sending one at a time.

The restaurant was not really busy so there was no excuse for the service.

There were no condiments on the table or olive oil etc.

Will be a while before we return.

everything was actually so damn bad that I really won't never be there again.
food was really not spanish at all - maybe the chef is not even coming from any latin country....could be from Eastern Europe or elsewhere in the world but of Spain this place has only several futbol shirts hanged on the wall
Service as well is quite poor and slow....without prioritizing customers
I had couple of beers ordered that stayed ready at the bar for I guess 20 minutes before somebody noticed and delivered to our tables...
It's really a waste of time and money....AVOID IT!

food was "anoymous"...not a real spanish tapa even though we ordered several different to taste possible improvement. But the final outcome was: total failure.
Food is bad
Service is even worse - so damn slow....20 minutes to get a draft beer (and the place was not crowded at all) plus a total of almost 90 minutes to get few tapas
Location is nice but nothing special...
To sum up - I won't suggest anybody this plance and I'm pretty sure I will never be there anymore! AWFUL

5 of us eat here before a match at United. We had a mix of various Tapas and a platter of lamb chops. The razor clams were wonderful, the monk fish exceptional and the fillet steak slices melted in the mouth. Only complaint was the "tiger king prawns" aka gambas pil pil. They were more like kitten baby shrimps. Other than that all was great, accompanied by very reasonable Tempranillo wine.
