Description: El Rincón de Rafa is Manchester's longest-serving independent Spanish restaurant, having been in the city centre for 22 years. A family run establishment, El Rincón is regularly described as a 'hidden gem' and offers a relaxed, authentic experience, brought to Manchester from Málaga by owner Rafael Cabrera-Vargas. El Rincón offers a large range of tapas and main courses (including paellas) and a fully stocked bar with a huge variety of Spanish beers (both bottles and draught) and wines. The off the beaten track but central location of El Rincón (close to the Hilton hotel - turn down St John's St from Deansgate and take the first right) ensures an unbeatable authentic Spanish atmosphere, but with hidden nooks and crannies for a more intimate feel. The restaurant doesn't accept bookings for two, seating couples at a number of tables on a first come, first served basis. Customers are also welcome to visit just the bar for food and/or drinks. Que aproveche!

“Good parts and ok parts”
Reviewed November 3, 2012

I visited the restaurant last night and because we'd booked a table we were seated straight away. The restaurant was packed so its a good job we did!
Waitress came straight away and took orders and within 10 mins food began to arrive. The majority of it was very tasty but a few dishes were just average. Watch out for the white bait!
All in all it was a lovely evening but we were only allowed to be at the table until 8 so were promptly pushed off it at this time. The whole place by this time was so packed and many people were waiting to be seated. You kind get the feeling at this restaurant that rather than the waitresses serving you to be attentive, they're quick because they want to get you out as soon as possible.
Pretty decent food though!

“A hidden gem worth discovering!”
Reviewed October 31, 2012

My wife and I had read about El Rincon so whilst in Manchester yesterday we decided to give it a whirl before heading home after and afternoon shopping spree. Difficult to find but once we did what a surprise. It reminded me of a visit to an authentic tapas bar on mainland Spain. The food was excellent and reasonably priced and the service was first class. The menu is varied and will cover all tastes. We thoroughly enjoyed orselves and will definately return.

“Great Atmosphere, but if your a foodie dont eat here”
Reviewed October 28, 2012

Friday evening after work, local office crowd. By 8pm the atmosphere was great, every table was full in the restaurant and a 2 hour wait for a table. I am not sure why?? The food is very poor and not good quality. The 3 tapas I ordered at the bar was poor quality beef and low grade prawns. I have a suspicion that allot of the dishes are reheated in a microwave. The staff when it’s crazy in there are not the friendliest but for a lively place and an atmosphere of Spain it’s a nice buzz.
