We stayed here for 2 nights just before Easter. Macdonald had posted a flier advertising reduced rates for Hotel breaks. Booked a suite with two double beds. We are a family with children aged 10 and 7. The hotel was quite easy to find near the Piccadilly railway station. Parking was available for £12 a day in a secure park behind the hotel. We were given vouchers to use in the hotel on arrival. The reception and the hotel in general looks and feels new. Everywhere is clean. The building is long and narrow. We needed to walk along a long corridor to get to the room from the lift. Dinner was from a set menu - tasty steaks. The kids got more chunky chips than we did! Breakfast was hearty. Close to city center for shops. If we were to go again - perhaps we would look for somewhere to stay around the Quays. For a family break - perhaps, this particular Hotel is let down by its location.

We booked a package which included 3 spa treatments, room and 3 course evening meal and Breakfast. Room was good, very spacious and excellent bathroom with separate bath and very large shower. Room needs a bigger TV as it is far to small to see properly from the bed. Hotel also needs more / bigger lifts.

The location is very good right next to Picadilly station and easily walkable into town for shopping. You can get free bus from station too.

Breakfast was Ok with good buffet selection and chefs doing fresh eggs. Buffet could have been hotter although it was good that they bought your toast to the table so you did not have to mess about with those inevitably rubbish toaster machines. Dinner was also good and although the selection was quite limited on the package the food was quite nice and even for three picky vegetarian / fish eaters there was a choice of options.

Spa was nice if a little disorganised with appointments. All of my treatments were good but one of our party had a pretty shody pedicure. The thermal experience downstairs is ok but I would not have paid extra to go in.

What lets this hotel down from being really good is the hit and miss service. The restaurant waiting staff were very accommodating, but they did not have our first choice of wine and one of the desserts came with a substitute product that we were not told about. The spa staff could not organise the appointments properly and some of the treatments didn't start on time. There were not enough robes for all the day visitors. We had to send a couple of glasses back with lipstick on them and the bar staff made a Manhattan without one of the ingredients. Everyone smiled and dealt with rectifying our minor complaints quickly, it would just have been nice not to have the problem in the first place!

Saying that I would stop here again.

Beautiful hotel in a great location, but please don't book this hotel if you're female and travelling alone. The hotel has a small car park and if this is full when you arrive you will be directed to an NCP car park across the centre of town. This happened to me when I got back around 10.30pm - if I had been with someone else, then this would have been highly inconvenient, but quite safe. However, I was by myself and the hotel would not let me 'reserve a space' despite my reservations about walking across Manchester by myself at that time of night. The centre of town was busy, so I felt OK - it was only when I got closer to the hotel, that the crowds disappeared and a very drunk guy came towards me and lunged at me. Not a nice experience at all. The staff were friendly and apologetic but couldn't do anything for me. And then they had the audacity to charge me for parking the next morning!!!

I have used this hotel on a number of accasions for business trips, without exception the staff ,accommodation and restaurant have been brilliant.
The added benefit of the spa is well worth trying
The outside of the hotel does not do the inside justice as it used to be owned by BT
5 mins walk from Piccadilly train station so extremely convenient

We travelled from Ireland to see the home football game of Manchester United v Aston Villa and to visit Old Trafford Museum and grounds. Our group of five, consisted of my two sons and myself and another father and son.

We flew to Manchester Airport and took the train to Piccadilly Station. The hotel is within sight of the station and later we used the stations Metrolink light rail system to get to Old Trafford.

We had booked two family rooms which we were given on the 5th and 8th floors. The rooms were very modern, clean, spacious and had every facility you would expect in a quality four star hotel. There was an iPod docking station and the sound from the TV was piped into the bathroom! The views over the city from our corner room windows were amazing.

The staff were friendly and efficient and although we did not avail of meals at the hotel, it was pleasant 10 minute walk to the city centre with lots of resturants and cafes en route.

To make the most of our trip we also visited the Lowry Gallery on Salford Quays.

We stayed here for two nights celebrating our Silver Wedding anniversary. We'd mentioned this when we booked and as soon as we arrived we had the most excellent service. We had been upgraded free to a Suite on the top floor with great views over the city. The staff where friendly and attentive especially Dale and Danny who where on the front desk when we arrived and Giovanni when we checked out.
We had booked into the hotel restaurant on the first night and where not disappointed by the food, which was excellent, as was the service again. There was a promotion on which meant we got a free half bottle of wine each too - couldn't have asked for more! The breakfasts where also very good, all the finest ingredients and organic milk.
The room we had was excellent - more floor area than the ground floor of my house! The look was modern (the hotel is only 2 years old), very clean and stylish with some nice touches like the iPOD dock, and very comfortable. We even had two TV's! The bathroom was superb with a walk in shower big enough for two and an enormous bath tub. Oh, and just in case, there where two loos!!
The hotel is really handy for the city, just 10 minutes walk from the Arndale center for those who like to shop, and even closer to the Gay Village (nightlife) and Chinatown (restaurants etc). If you like culture, there are many museums within easy reach too (try the MOSI and the Manchester Art Gallery, both are free entry).
Likes:
The superb room, excellent service and great food.
Dislikes:
No pool - the only disappointment.

Stayed in this hotel with my girlfriend on 14th Feb this year (bit of a late review!). It was fantastic. Hardly any queue to check in, our room wasn't quite ready at 3pm but we just had a drink in the bar for 20 mins and then it was all sorted. The room was gorgeous (and massive!) with a lovely, comfortable bed, beautiful purple curtains and a flat screen tv. There was also an iPod docking station which was a really nice touch. The bathroom was also great, huge walk in shower and a lovely bath. We loved the room so much we booked an extra night as soon as we returned from dinner. The only minor problem was our room key wasn't working when we tried to get back into it the next day but this was easily solved with a trip down to reception. Will definitely stay again.
