Our room on the 8th floor was spacious, airy, clean and comfortable. The staff are helpful and courteous. The hotel is modern. Other reviewers will give you more details.
Helpful stuff from me.........
1. The car park is just behind the hotel and works on a 'first come, first served' basis. The charge is £20 but IT'S FREE IF YOU HAVE A DISABLED BLUE BADGE.
There is valet parking available.
2. The Wifi connection is very good which means..........
3. The hotel bar is full of people working on their lap tops, talking business on their mobile phones, having meetings etc.......ALL DAY LONG.
4. A large glass of merlot costs £10.50. It was very nice but so it should be at that price!
5. There are only two lifts serving the whole hotel so expect a long wait at peak times.
6. The breakfast dining area is tucked away up a flight of stairs. The decorations are rather surreal - cow horns and studded leather walls!
7. The air conditioning in our room was quiet and it was very easy to adjust the temperature.
8. The mini bar has a seal on it so you can't open it up to chill a bottle of water or the white screw top wine that you've brought with you!
9. Gluten free dining from the bar.........nothing specific on the menu but the chef was very knowledgeable, as were the serving staff, so dishes can be adapted. Gluten free breakfast...apart from the usual white sliced GF bread that you can't have toasted because there is no dedicated toaster.....there is nothing specific- so choose with the care.
10. There is no outdoor area for sitting, having a drink, having a cigarette, watching the world go by.

This is a lovely stylish hotel with spacious clean rooms. Breakfast was wonderful, and staff are very friendly courteous and helpful, especially the chap at the entrance in the top hat. He is fantastic. The only negative I have is that it is a good 15 minute walk from Piccadilly gardens and the main shopping area. My husband didn't mind it, but after hiking round the shops all day, it just felt a little too far out for me. There is the free shuttle from Piccadilly station which will take you up to the shops, but it does go round all the back streets and takes a while. So all in a great hotel. But in the wrong location ( for me)

We stopped for just one night as we were going to a gig in the city. We were very impressed with the warm and friendly staff, and our regular double room was excellently appointed and spotlessly clean with a great view of the station. The shower room was well appointed and modern. We will definitely use this hotel again next time we are in Manchester.

Our first stay at this spacious modern hotel provided us with the perfect accommodation we had hoped for during our shopping weekend in Manchester. It was within walking distance to the hub of Manchester shopping centre and Piccadilly Station. Can't fault their clean and spaciously comfortable bedrooms dining area and reception. The pinnacle of the weekend was most certainly the breakfast, excellent cold buffet selections and traditional hot food buffet, freshly cooked and served by such pleasant efficient and obliging staff. Despite the hotel being full, the service they provided was excellent and made our stay special. We'll most certainly be returning and because we were so impressed with our stay have already recommended your hotel to friends and colleagues.

The good: Location, 5 minutes walk from Picadilly train station, staff very polite and helpful, some of them go the extra mile to please your needs, a big thank you to the lovely guy that found me and daughter something quick to eat at the lobby bar, you are absolutely wonderful. free WiFi, kettle, iron, iron board facilities in room. Food was very good, fresh and up to high standard, breakfast was ok, not the best but plenty to choose from. The spa treatment very relaxing and enjoyable, if you get a good offer don't hesitate to book it.

The bad: too expensive for what is on offer, for half of the money you pay in here, you can get a decent good hotel in Manchester, and we got an offer... found out the normal price of our room is twice the amount we paid. Room was full of dust, marked bed linen, found ash cigarettes on a sofa and carpets, toilet were not clean and a bad smell coming from bathroom drain pipe, so we had to keep bathroom door closed at all the time to keep the smell out of room. there was a small empty fridge. A couple of water bottle could be a nice touch and would not brake the hotel finance, i had drinking water in welcome traces in many other hotels so been The Macdonald a four start you would expect this kind of details. We were located in a accessible room, the sink was so small, that we had to put a towel underneath to stop the water running in floor.

Overall not the best experience as we were expecting more, the hotel is advertising as four star luxurious hotel, sorry but it does not feel like it. There is a lot of room for improvement, specially in the cleaning area.
