“great city hotel.”
Reviewed October 15, 2013

Booked direct and got a reasonable price for b&b. Room (exec on 8th floor) was really nice with a good city view and was really clean.
As we booked direct wed got £10 to spend in the bar.
Breakfast was excellent and the chef cooked us a fresh omelette.

Room Tip: High up with city view. Exec.

We stayed one night as a birthday spa and dining treat and were pleased with the experience but not enamored.

Our room was lovely with a large, very comfortable bed, and a good-sized bathroom. Although the view wasn't fantastic (facing an old building overlooking the ring road) the room was very spacious and quite luxurious.
However, the champagne that had been ordered for the room on arrival was missing along with some of the smaller touches such as dressing gowns, some of the tea making facilities and the mini bar wasn't stocked fully which sort of ruined the romantic arrival bit.
But overall it was a great room, very well decorated and lovely to stay in.

However, the restaurant /dining experience both at breakfast and in the evening left a lot to be desired.

In the evening our meal with a good bottle of wine came to nearly £150 but the steaks were terrible. I think i described mine on the night as like 'corned beef' which is not good considering the hotel charges similar prices to some of the top steak restaurants in Manchester.
We were grateful to our waitress on the evening though as she did recommend us a truly super red wine which we would have never selected on our own. She was also very apologetic regarding our food.

But again in the morning the breakfast (buffet style) wasn't good. Most of the hot food items were cold by the time we reached our table and the two poached eggs i had cooked especially came out dripping in vinegar and over poached.

Overall we would stay again in the hotel again and recommend it to friends coming to Manchester even though it isn't cheap. But you do pay for what you get.

But we would not eat in the restaurant again.

Dear Kellie,

Thank you for highlighting what we did well and what we need to do to further improve.

Obviously we want every guests experience to be memorable for all the right reasons and as you will see I have sent a message separately asking for further details about the time of your stay so I can understand further why your time with us wasn't as good as other guests at the same time.

Stayed one night. Very convenient for the railway station and the Apollo for the concert we were going to. Our room was huge, with a lovely bed, spacious bathroom and was spotless. The highlight was the breakfast; the figs were gorgeous and the black pudding was fantastic! Would definitely recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: We were floor 7 so no traffic noise and A/C has an off switch, so great!

Stayed at this hotel for 1 night begining of October & 1 night was not enough to experience the sheer quality this hotel has to offer on entering the hotel i was greeted by a very friendly receptionist who made the check in straight forward & very effective.
on entering the room i was astounded to see the quality of the room. I booked the room through late rooms as a suprise for my partner who was speechless & blown away we also used the steam rooms & saunas which were of the highest quality i have ever experienced. The views were amazing late at night.

The hotel is also in perfect location for the centre of the town we will definetley be returning but for longer than one night as it wasnt enough to experience the delights this hotel has to offer 11/10

We stayed here 2 nights to go to The Apollo to see Deep Purple. It was only a 5 minute bus ride to The Apollo from outside the hotel and we walked back ...just followed the crowds and got back to the hotel in 15 minutes...so a good place to stay for The Apollo.Only a 5 minute walk from Piccadilly station. There was secure parking at the back of the hotel ... Entry only with a code so the car is safe but I do think £20 for 24 hours is expensive but then again we didn't worry about the car.The staff in the hotel are extremely pleasant and welcoming and that goes for all of them...reception,bar and restaurant...they really made us feel welcome. The room was large and very clean with a lovely view of the city. The quality of the food was excellent and service was good. The breakfast was excellent with a good choice and lovely staff to serve it.We will stay here again and we can highly recommend it.

Room Tip: We stayed in 739 which was quiet and had a lovely view

we stayed for one night with family and friends, some of us were going to the theatre and some to a concert, the hotel being ideally placed for both.
Although busy when we arrived ( queuing out of the door to check in), this was just due to the number of guests, the check process was actually very smooth and quick. We had a £10 room credit which we decided to use as part payment for the secure car park ( £20 overnight).
Our room was large and well maintained with a view over the city centre, the bed was comfy, the bathroom spotless and the amenities excellent, the only tiny downside was that no bottled water was provided in the room and with the air con on all night a cold drink would have been very welcome.
Breakfast was good, hot drinks and toasts brought to your table ( no queuing for those awful slow toasters) with the rest of the foods being buffet style, the hot food was topped up often even though we were at the tale end of the breakfast sitting.
All in all I would recommend to anyone needing a city centre hotel.

Nice hotel, but not value for money, Like Karate27, I was disappointed, not with the room (It was a nice big room), but with the overall experience. My wife had chosen this hotel for our 10th Wedding anniversary, after looking through a number in Manchester this was the place she wanted to go to. So end of May, I booked a superior room through Booking.com and requested information on Spa treatments for our weekend visit this month (October 2013). We never received any info from the hotel re:spa treatments, so the week before our stay, I checked our reservation - we weren't booked in. After speaking to Booking.com, they re-confirmed my booking saying that the hotel had received the booking, but forget to confirm it. On arrival to the hotel, we were impressed by the look of it and its size, we were also thankful for the locality to Piccadilly Station. When checking in we were informed we had a free upgrade - to a superior room (That's what I had booked and was paying for?). The room was on the top floor and the view was plentiful, if you wanted to see the train lines, Etihad Stadium and the back end of Manchester plus the Pennines. Nice room, nice bathroom! We paid £118 per night which was a room only rate and here's the rub, for over £100 a night I would expect breakfast to be included, but no - not here...so the value I would question. Finally, I left a pair of shoes in the wardrobe, which I realised Monday morning, so I rang the hotel to arrange their recovery, I was told I would get a call after house keeping had been through the room - no call came. I rang back in the evening and the manageress of house keeping informed me that no shoes had been found in the room....I had left them in the wardrobe! On Wednesday the hotel manager contacted me to tell me that my shoes had been found, but due to a clerical error they hadn't been logged....and they had since been lost again (code for being sold on ebay)? The hotel has offered to refund the cost of the shoes and I am waiting for this credit to my account. Would I go back? to Manchester, Yes - to this hotel, probably not....

Room Tip: Eight floor rooms were nice and spacious
