“23 minutes wait to check in???”
Reviewed January 15, 2013

What must be a new record for me, had to wait 23 minutes in line to check in at around 18:30. Only 2 members of staff at the desk. Surely at this time when many business guests would arrive, there would more staff on. 9 people in front of me, and by the time i had finished the checkin, about 7 behind me. Colleagues who had checked in an hour earlier also commented on lengthy waits. A standard "sorry about the wait" just does not do in this instance.

Possibly an isolated incident, unprescedented influx of guests etc (I hope for their sake).

Other than that, nice rooms, good bed, but rather poor sound proofing. Could hear every word of next doors discussion in the morning. Did not affect my sleep as the many very good bars in the nearby viscinity ensured a deep sleep. Hope my snoring did not keep anyone up :)

Dear Guest

Thank you for your review. Firstly, please be assured that we do rota our reception team in line with business needs. I am, however, aware of the evening in question and with one team member down and an influx of guests arriving at the same time, this did unfortunately result in delays at check in, for which I apologise. The reception team on duty did their utmost to check guests into the Hotel as quickly as possible and apologised for the wait time a number of guests experienced.

On a positive note, I was pleased to hear that you were pleased with your room and had a good night's sleep, albeit you were aware of nosie transfer on this occasion.

I do sincerely hope that the incident at check in has not premanently marred your opinion of us and that sometime in the future we may have the opportunity to welcome you back and restore your faith in us.

Kind regards
David Daly

Stayed here for a Man U match in December 2012.It was Xmas party season and both nights we stayed there was christmas parties. This put a lot of pressure on the 3 lifts. Check in quick and efficient. Staff lovely. A lot of noise from other rooms I had to wear ear plugs to sleep.Key for room had to be keyed 3 times. We ate in the restaurant both nights. Lovely. Tram right outside the hotel. This hotel is perfect for shopping and there is a huge Primark at the corner of the street

Room Tip: Choose a room high up that is quiet and if there is a function on ask to be put in a room away from...

We stayed here for one night in january. Our flght arrived at 7.30am. We just wanted to leave our bag in until we checked in but the receptionist said our room was ready and we could check in then. She was really lovely. Rooms are abit on the small side but nice all the same. Location is fantastic everything nearby. Would definatly stay again!

We arrived to find the hotel, friendly, clean and in a very good position to all ammenties. It was my birthday weekend and we had a fab time going on the underground tour (well worth the time) and hit the town in the evening. The breakfast i must say was definately 10/10, nothing was to much trouble for the staff and the Maitre de Isabelle very accommodating. I will definately stay here again.

Sharron

Room Tip: Very handy if you wish to go on canal street or china town

First of all the good:

Great breakfast, comfortable bed, good location, great price, nice toiletries, clean.

The not so good: staff could not get the movies to work in the room (new system but no training it seems). The plumbing leaked twice (it happens!). The heating was inadequate and the room was never really warm given the cold weather.

Given the good online deal I got I was happy. The staff were friendly an gave me free breakfast in place of the films they could not provide. But I think there are more comfortable places to stay in the city.

Firstly, please accept my apologies for the maintenance issues you encountered and the inconvenience you encountered. Unfortunately things can on occasions go wrong, however, how such issues are dealt with by the team at the time is most important and I do hope that they did all they could at the time to address the issues you brought to their attention.

We stayed for 1 night in room 935, and were generally very impressed for the price we paid. Our room had the usual bits and pieces- iron, hairdryer etc and the bed was big and really comfy. Shame there wasn't much of a view. even if there was, our window steamed up when we had a shower so we couldn't see out anyway. The buffet breakfast was very tasty and well cooked (£7.50 pp). ost of the staff were cheerful and polite except for one waitress who had a face like thunder when I asked for some butter for my toast. She must have had a bad morning LOL. The location of the hotel is really handy for local pubs and restaurants. if you need transport there is a bus and tram terminal outside and loads of taxis. The only thing that let the hotel down was a leak under our bathroom sink. We were told by the plumber that we might need to change rooms. Luckily we didn't. Overall, the standard of this hotel was very good and I will be using it again. :)

Great location right in the centre Of Manchester with car parking (chargeable at £15 per night) shops, restaurants and bars on your doorstep. The welcome on checking in was very friendly and a street map given to help with directions. Our room on the 11th floor overlooked Piccadilly Gardens but unfortunately due to the old metal windows and then the secondary double glazing we could not see a thing due to the heavy condensation that formed in the cavity, this damp was there when we arrived and 2 days later no sign of clearing. These windows did not open at all but had an air vent running the width of the hotel, sound from nearby bedrooms was quite audible. The room although a little on the on the small side was clean but the bathroom was tired and in need of an update. Full marks to the housekeeping and also to the breakfast, which was good and the staff efficient and friendly.

Many guests do indeed comment that our location couldn't be better in terms of getting out and about to see what Manchester has to offer and having our own onsite car park which is only steps away from our front door is also of great benefit. Thank you for your kind comments regarding housekeeping and breakfast, which I will take the opportunity to share.
