Owner description: The world's biggest and best football museum is open 7 days a week in Manchester city centre. The museum is free to enter, and tells the story of the beautiful game through the eyes of everyone from the players, the law-makers, and most importantly the fans.Exploring how football has impacted on and reflected English culture and society over 150 years, it brings stories to life with a range of interactive and hands-on displays. There are world-famous iconic objects including the ball from the 1966 World Cup final, Diego Maradona's famous 'Hand of God' shirt, and even the game's very first hand-written rule book. On top of that there are lots of chances to show off your skills from the penalty box to the commentary box, with a range of Football Plus+ experiences (charges apply - see website for details). The National Football Museum Hall of Fame, on the ground floors, is the official tribute to the game’s greatest players, teams and managers. Upstairs, you’ll find stories from inventing, expanding, following and playing the game. There’s also a Discovery Zone for under 5s, and Level 3 is dedicated to changing exhibitions exploring how art and culture exist alongside the beautiful game.

“A must for football lovers!!”
Reviewed January 12, 2014

The football museum is free, however operates on a donation basis. It cost us £10 including a programme. It was worth every penny. My husband was in his element and even though I'm not a huge fan of football myself, I must say I really enjoyed looking at football through the ages.

“A major disappointment”
Reviewed January 10, 2014

I love football, but maybe I'm just not into football regalia and old artefacts.
It needs to be livened up.
Maybe football and museums don't mix. You lose the vibrancy of the game if there's no action.
It could do with being modernised with video, footage, clips, sound.
I'll stick to going to the match.

“Worth a look”
Reviewed January 5, 2014

We live in Manchester and have never been in the football museum so thought we would give it a try! My husband is a big football fan, he really enjoyed if i just followed him round really! there were lots to see old and new, i found the history really interesting how the kits and balls etc have changed over the years. There seemed lots of interactive things to do too at an extra cost. I would come back with my sons when theyre a bit older. There was a locker area and a gift shop and cafe too
