Stayed over on a works night out. Room was clean and comfortable. Reception staff were friendly and chatty - as we're bar staff. It's in a good location for central Manchester yet was surprisingly good value - only £45 for room only!

The hotel was exactly what you'd expect from a Premier Inn -- clean, comfortable, and very friendly staff. The layout of the hotel was a bit strange, a huge rectangular block around a barren central courtyard area and the fan in the bathroom was a bit noisy, but overall a pleasant stay. The bed was really comfortable.

Room Tip: I had a room around the back of the hotel (away from Portland Street) and it was really quiet.

What you would expect from a Premier Inn. Very friendly helpful staff. I wouldn't recommend the breakfast - to me looked tired and not good value for money. Have stayed at other Premier Inns and their buffet breakfast was much better.

Room Tip: The room was ok and I slept well, but I wouldn't eat at the restaurant, you get better value els...

Excellent, helpful friendly staff. Room was just right for 2 adults and 3 year old. Buffet breakfast was of a high standard and there was plenty of it. Parking was only a short walk away with a discount from Premier also.

Premier Inn Portland St lives upto the Premier Inn genre. Affordable, clean, convenient, extra friendly helpful staff, cracking breakfast. Family stayed one night (2 adults, 2 children) to see Lion King (not part of trip advisor but see it if you can.....brilliant). Treated like royalty. Nothing too much trouble, except for understaffed bar. One poor girl left trying to open a bottle of wine with a broken cork-screw leaving a few of us waiting for refreshments. Breakfast pricey at £8-95 but two kids ate free. At 14 and 15yrs, they probably scoffed more than us. Recommend for weekend break. YES!!!

Room Tip: Great views of city at night from high up.

Back here again on business trip and again, very welcoming and pleasant. Had a room by the lifts and could hear the opening/closing but only if I really listened for them - and I'm used to sleeping in a very quiet room! Clean, functional, warm and a good nights sleep.

Lovely staff in restaurant, both for evening and breakfast. Friendly and helpful and she was worth mentioning in dispatches (sorry, didn't catch her name).

Central location but not noisy. Just wish I could open the window a touch for some fresh air.

Thanks guys.

Room Tip: Rooms overlooking courtyard the quiestest but even those on the road are not noisy.

Five adult family members stayed in three rooms on 27/01/2013 for one night. Two rooms next to each other and another a few rooms away on the same floor. We all had breakfast, ALL YOU CAN EAT! for about £8.25 each. The food was nice and hot. Our rooms cost just £19 per room. Total costs for rooms and five breakfasts was only £98.25 inc vat! Nice clean hotel and rooms. Friendly, helpful staff. Late check-out too, 12pm! The only downside to this hotel is that there is no car park. However, you can buy a car parking voucher from the hotel reception for £13.50 for up to 24hrs parking. The car park is nearby. Would not let this put me or my family off staying at this hotel again.

Room Tip: Rooms at the back are quiet.
