Always a pleasure to stay at this Premier Inn, just a pity the air con units in the bedrooms have been disconnected and replaced by small wall mounted heaters. These are controlled by a wall mounted panel with a maximum temperature setting of 23 degrees. However, the heater cuts out when it reaches 23 degrees, NOT the room itself. On winter days this is woefuly inadequate, so don't be afraid to ask for a supplementary portable heater which is more than up to the job.

I needed somewhere to stay in Manchester centre....I dont live too far away but far enough to need to stay over on this occasion....a meeting of a group of skiing friends.
The Portland was a pleasant place to stay in city centre of Manchester. I found it on the internet and sorted most of the booking out on the website....just needed to ring to stress I wanted a room looking inward, looking over the courtyard.
Helpful staff.
Decent breakfast...help yourself have as much as you want.
Will stay again if I need to be in Manchester centre overnight.
It was very convenient for a bit of shopping the next day before getting my train back to Lancaster

Room Tip: ask to stay in an inner room, facing the courtyard

Haven't stayed at a Premier Inn before, was impressed by the welcoming of staff/quick check in on arrival. Great value for money, large size rooms, comfy beds in the center of Manchester.

Would certainly stay here again and recommend and definitely will be staying with Premier Inn hotels more in the future.

Faultless at the price, £29 for a city centre hotel, mind you, make sure you can walk as not much near it, 10 paces to a casino, 20 paces to a Wetherspoons, maybe 21 paces to a couple of good Chinese and Indian restaurants, about 3 minutes stroll to Oxford Road Train station, 1 minute 30 seconds stroll into Chinatown, Wine Lodge just over the road about 50 paces, 5 minutes stroll from Piccadilly Railway, a terrible 6 minute stroll to Arndale Centre, maybe you prefer Primark, a heart pounding 4 minutes, I dont need to go on.
Rooms fine, book a dearer overpriced place if you like, I just wish the room had a 65 inch 3D television as it should have, and a jacuzzi in the bathroom. How about balcony too? Can we not have free in house movies too? A free room service breakfast would not go amiss, and its short of a spa and swimming pool. But other than that I suppose for the price I will give it 5 stars, thank you Premier Inn once again, you are the best.

I have stayed at this hotel a few times and wouldn't stay at any other hotel in Manchester. The staff are friendly and check-in was quick. It is in a perfect location and just a few minutes walk from the shops and bars. During one of the nights someone had set off the fire alarm and we all had to evacuate but the staff was apologetic and was directed back to our rooms after the fire service had been. Great value for money too.

Stayed here on Friday Dec 21st as we were going to a gig at The Academy. Greeted by very polite staff who told us exactly how to get to our concert giving taxi numbers and bus numbers. The hotel is ideally situated for shopping etc and is only a short ride from the train station (less than 4 quid from Picadilly). Our room (number 240) was at the back of the hotel and was very comfortable and peaceful. 10 out of 10 Premier Inn!! Much better than Travelodge and we'll definately be back!

Room Tip: Room 240 was at the back of the hotel, the receptionist informed us that we could change rooms if we...

Stayed here for the weekend to do the Christmas Markets, couldn't be in a better location, only 5 mins from the main markets on Albert Square and within easy reach of the other markets. The hotel itself is good and the service friendly, as we were early they held our bags for us while we hit the shops, when we came back the check in was simple and straightforward. The rooms themselves were comfy and clean, we did have a slight problem with not being enough towels but this was quickly rectified by the staff.

The breakfast was excellent and the service friendly especially from Paulo who was a bubbly character and made everyone feel welcome. We booked early for this weekend and got a really good deal on rooms and breakfast, so if your are thinking of staying look out for bargains. To finish I would recommend this hotel for its service and location whilst it isn't 5 star it's as good as some dearer hotels I've stayed in.
