“Good budget choice”
Reviewed July 28, 2010

Stayed here for the weekend with friends, on arrival we were able to check in and pay using the self service machine which sped things up. I was allocated a room on the 7th floor (701) which was set back from the corridor and had a great view over the skyline. Each corridor has a key entry which I presume stops those not allocated that floor from entering.
Room was a good size with a comfortable bed and good aircon, bathroom had a bath with shower over and everything was extremely clean.
Although not much in the way of contact from staff we found the whole experience to be very good, we required an iron which was brought up within 5 minutes, reception phone answered swiftly etc.
All in all I would stay here again, you are within walking distance of all local attractions and price of rooms very good.

Very solid choice for a budget hotel. I booked far enough in advance that I got a very low price, so that does influence my opinion! Not a lot of personality or personalized service, but that's not to be expected at this price point. The bedroom was sunny, decent-sized, and pleasant; the bathroom was okay--no more, no less. The bed was quite comfortable; especially welcome in a budget hotel.

Others here have complained about street noise, but didn't find that to be a problem, though I had a street-facing room. Note that I do always sleep with earplugs in cities, but I wasn't annoyed during non-sleeping hours, either...maybe that's just me.

The location wasn't thrilling, but it was convenient. I could walk to everywhere in the city centre, and it's extremely close to a Metro stop.

All in all, very good for the price.

This hotel was a great find and absolute bargain for centre of manchester. Got a deal for £39, we just needed a base to stay after a concert. Check in was fine, express wouldnt find reservation but reception staff helped straight away. really nice reception woman, very helpful told us how to walk to the MEN and into the centre. Room was very modern, flat screen tv, very clean, comfy bed and decent size. Basic but everything we needed. Slept well but could be a little noisy on lower floors due to central location and tram lines outside the hotel.
The on-site restaurant table table was brilliant, excellent value for money and lovely food.
Didnt try the costa on site but very handy.
Very close to shops and restaurants about 10 mins walk to the arndale centre and 15 mins to the MEN.
I would deffinately stay here again if the price was right.
Only downside was trying to find the GMEX car park it wasnt sign posted very well but you do get a 30% discount if you ask staff in hotel to validate your ticket.

The hotel is about 10 mins from proper middle of Manchester which is fine. It was a bit noisy at night but what more can be expected from a city centre hotel. The room was clean and the bed was one of the comfiest I've ever slept in. Breakfast is good if you can eat loads but is of a good quality. The staff were all friendly and helpful.

I stayed here for one night with my boyfriend and a group of friends, for a reunion trip to Manchester. We actually spent hardly any time in the hotel to be honest, but the room had a lovely big window so was really nice and sunny, the bed was comfy, the bathroom was good and all in all for the £39 we paid it was a complete bargain.

Only a few down points, the service wasn't brilliant, it wasn't bad, it just wasn't great.

The room had been modernised, but the bathroom was a little tired.

It would have been nice to have had more than two teabags.

Really, I'm being picky, I coudln't complain for the price and for the purpose. However if you want something a bit nearer the shops you might find this a bit far away for you.

I stayed here whilst on business for 3 nights. My room was front facing. Like many others have commented upon the noise was unbearable. My window sounded like it wasn't properly shut as you could hear people talking still (5th floor) and the trams and cars going by was a nightmare.

So... for sleep, this hotel is awful (at least from my room!) but the gym was great and the staff were all friendly and breakfast was nice as well. Try and insist on a room at the back and hopefully you will be ok - my colleague was on the side and her room was nice and quiet. All in all.... Everything's premier...but the sleep.

If you can get over the low quality associated restaurants and the lack of room service, Premier Inns are currently the biggest business bargain out there, with new, huge, comfortable beds, plenty of storage and hanging space and mostly handy locations. If I sound gushing it's because I did 3 PIs this week in 3 towns and every one of them was excellent. Bring your own tea and coffee, make eating reservations elsewhere and be prepared for an unpleasant hassle electronically booking in without the human touch, but otherwise this was absolutely excellent and gave me everything I needed without wasting money on fancy ego stroking frills.
