This was a truly exceptional hotel - loved it. The service the decor the hot tub on the roof!! What an amazing place.

I would definitely recommend that you book a higher price room as we booked the eclectic grand and it was truly beautiful - by far the nicest room I have ever stayed in.

This was a real treat and not something to do every week as was expensive but for a special occasion I would highly recommend

The ups...

Beautiful building and very well decorated, furnished and equiped. Staff friendly and helpful

The downs...

Unbelievably poor bar (it looks great but has a truly pathetic range - almost as if it was being run-down deliberately. Bar staff were friendly but were clueless about drink preparation). The range was similarly dismal in the mini-bar...

The room was constantly too warm inspite of both air-con units running night & day (it was only mild/cloudy when we went, god knows what it would be like on a hot day). The fact that the room had a whopping big fan sitting in the corner says it all.

As mentioned before, the staff were friendly at all times, but did seem very inexperienced - it just didn't feel like there was anyone really in charge.

Overall, not a bad place, but not nearly as good as it thinks it is...
we had a last minute deal, but on the whole I'd feel a bit short changed if I'd paid full price.

We booked a last minute stay at Great John Street, direct on their web site, after staying there earlier in the year. This hotel is fantastic, if you are looking for a boutique hotel, with a point of difference this is the place to stay. We got a great deal with the hotel, and stayed in a duplex room. The room was beautiful. Service in the hotel was first class. There was a wedding on when we were there, but that did not stop us from being able to go on to the roof top, and enjoying the hot tub and a glass of champagne !!! A pleasant change from the usual hotel chains. A definate hotel for a romantic gettaway.

Delighted with reduced rates from late availability on hotel website. Even more delighted to receive an upgrade to a suite overlooking Coronation Street set. Staff were extremely friendly and welcoming. Room was immaculate. Loved the bathroom on the balcony. Stayed in many boutique and designer hotels in many countries and would rate this very highly. A total bargain that is recommended to you all !

Our second stay here. We parked outside (free 18:00-08:00 and nipped down to feed the meter until 10:00, so if you don't mind doing this you could save a few pounds. Booked last minute direct to hotel. We were informed that the rooftop and hot tub were booked privately, but got a call on the day to say it would be free after all, which I thought was very courteous. Slept like a log until someone in the neighbouring apartments decided to chat on the balcony at 05:00. Managed to go back to sleep though. Went in the hot tub at 08:00 and found a used tampon on the floor nearby. The staff removed it quickly and were very apologetic. We will go back - it's the ONLY place to stay in town for us.

Got a fantastic bargain from hotel's own website by booking on late availability. Hotel was amazing and, for such a fashionable hotel, staff were helpful and not at all stand-offish. Conveniently located for city centre but in a quiet area, so sleep won't be disturbed. Roof top bar/garden area is lovely but the Manchester weather could be a problem at some times. We were lucky and had glorious sunshine. Would definitely recommend to anyone....

First off this is not a 'bad' hotel....

I can't help thinking tho that the owners spent so much time designing the place..and filling it with wonderful things...that the staff & creating a buzz came last...

The rooms

We stayed in a Bouidoir Suite (rack of £385 but got for £125 through laterooms), it was large with a split level bathroom (brilliant for the two roll top baths) but not so good for the loo in the middle of the night (though the room...up lots of stairs.., etc).

Bed was comfy and room ammenities very good.

The rest

The bars & the roof terrace were very well designed but had no sparkle at all..

If this was in Miami I can just imagine a Dj and a very hip crowd making the hotel 'the' place to go.

It is very difficult to park near the hotel..lots of short stay meters but not a lot else. The info on the hotel website is v vague about this...make sure you plan ahead for a car park...

Anyway...as a guide for others...v good rooms...shop around for a deal...if you want any specifics answered please contact me...
