“Great hotel, perfect location. Wouldn't stay anywhere else in Manchester”

We've stayed here a couple of times and it just gets better and better. Gorgeous rooms, fantastic atmosphere & decor. All of the staff were really friendly and there were some great little touches like welcome back cakes in our room and bottles of water waiting in our car. The bed was ridiculously comfortable and our room was really quiet. There was a wedding party checking in as we were checking out and the staff were trying really hard to have their rooms available much earlier than usual, not many places are so accommodating. My favourite hotel in Manchester by a mile

Room Tip: Rooms at the back will be the quietest

It is some 4 years or so since my wife and I were at the Great John Street Hotel. We were not disappointed on our return.
The hotel is quirky but comfortable and interesting with friendly and efficient staff. A particular plus point is the quality of the breakfast. The bacon was particularly good.
The hotel is next to the Coronation Street set which we visited. As Corrie fans we had a thoroughly enjoyable couple of days based in the hotel.

Room Tip: The suites are great fun with the sitting room on a different level from the bedroom and bathroom.

Spent a lovely afternoon at this hidden gem in Manchester. A former Victorian school house, each room is named after it's former purpose - Headmasters Office, Boys'/Girls' Classrooms and a rooftop playground. Had afternoon tea on the Mezzanine floor - dainty finger sandwiches on the freshest bread, a variety of cakes and pastries together with cream/jam scones. Tea is served in china cups and saucers, just a lovely way to spend an afternoon. Also great to explore the City Centre, being next to the Opera House and Spinningfields. Service was quiet and attentive, will book again. Wear elasticated pants!

We stayed here on our wedding night in a Baby Grand bedroom. Our room and the communal areas are the nicest I have ever seen. The room feels really luxurious with traditional features and a mezzanine level with a roll top bath and separate walk in rain shower. The service was good, they accommodated our 12:30am arrival and were pleasant and informative.

The bed was very comfortable and queen size and the facilities in the room included plenty of storage, a flat screen TV, quality toiletries and iPod station. There were some lovely complimentary chocolates in our room.

This hotel felt really special and I would recommend a stay here.

Stayed for one night in Room 21 on a Wednesday night and would highly recommend for location ambience and staff helpfulness. The rooms are really cosy with very comfortable beds and rather quirky as the bathroom is on a mezzanine level in the room. Bit of an issue if you need to make a few bathroom trips during teh night!!! But other than that its nice to stay somewhere that's a bit different and quirky. Room rates can vary wildly depending on availability so try and book in advance if possible. I'm inclined to look for rates on line and then ring the hotel to see if they can better or match the rate and that has always worked for me. I feel I might get a better room allocation if I am dealing with the hotel directly. Breakfast choice is great and all very well prepared - but do get there on time!

Room Tip: Room 21 was very nice - cosy and no traffic noise

We got married at the Great John Street Hotel in mid May and it truly was the best day of our lives. We were very lucky that we got the best day of the year weather-wise, but the venue was stunning and having the roof terrace was incredible and a great way to show off Manchester to our London friends.
The staff were amazing and nothing was too much trouble for them, even when some our guests were still up in the early hours of the morning. The food was excellent (we had the hog roast) and everyone we have spoken to since the wedding has told us it was amazing day for them too(esp the canapes and cocktails).

I would recommend the margarita cocktails to anyone who likes a drink.

Bronwen and David and their teams were brilliant and made everything we wanted happen.

Thank you so much to everyone at GS Hotel. I can't fault anything - from venue, staff, bedrooms (which are incredible and so well decorated) to food and drink - everything was perfect.
