I Have stayed at eleven which is the same group of hotels and like this chain very much.
Lovley hotel beautifully done ,very comfortable, great location.
Starff very helpful.
Would recommend .
Usual costly parking though as ncp car parks in manchester are expensive.

I had my wedding reception at Great John Street Hotel last week, and it surpassed our already high expectations. We exclusively booked the hotel, meaning we had access to the roof top terrace, the main bar areas, and all 30 rooms for our guests.

Everyone loved their rooms, the food is the best wedding food I've had, and the mezzanine in the bar is a great place for the DJ to play tunes down to the dance floor.

I would definitely recommend this venue for weddings.

We had our wedding ceremony and reception at the Great John Street Hotel. This was the best wedding planning decision we made. Having this fantastic branch of the Ecletic Hotels team at the helm transformed our vision from "a few ideas which made sense in our heads" to a really detailed orientated event. It was tailored to suit us and made to feel completely unique.

Bronwen and her team delivered first class service and gave us a day to remember. The food was delicious. Their head chef went above and beyond to make our wedding breakfast stand out and it kept our guests talking for the rest of the night - especially the apple crumble! Francisco made the coordination of the day look so easy but we know how much he brought to the smooth running of the ceremony, reception and evening reception.

The hotel itself is charming and elegant but unpretentious. This made us and all of our guests feel very relaxed.

From our first meeting we were put at ease and impressed by the professionalism and support from Bronwen.

The rooms at the hotel are a real treat. We loved the fact it had been converted from an old school house! Split level rooms with roll top baths. What's not to love?!

We would strongly recommend booking Great John Street Hotel for a wedding or any other event. We were delighted with every aspect of our wedding. Faultless.

Room Tip: Take an Ecletic Grand for the full luxury experience if it's a romantic break

Visited this hotel for afternoon tea to celebrate a friends birthday. The staff were very polite and service was excellent. The rooms are all very individual , we were on the mezzanine level. Afternoon tea was lovely , even the gluten free version. Plenty of refills for coffee and tea. We weren't rushed and thoroughly enjoyed the whole outing. Will return again.

As a Manchester boy born and bred I’ve seen this great city develop over the years I’ve been away. Ask me in the early 80s if such a hotel as the GJS could exist in the city and I, like most Mancunians, would have laughed, the nearest thing then would have been The Midland Hotel, the tired Grand Dame of the city.
The first impression of the GJS is understated, off Deansgate, tucked away in a very quiet street opposite the Coronation St. studio. The warm welcome from Natalie gave the feeling of coming home, warm, kind and efficient. Bruno was there to whisk our car away, a real bonus in the centre of this city. They were both on at checkout too, nice to have a sense of continuity. Our room was like most of the rooms here split level, the bathroom on the mezzanine featuring a huge roll top bath, separate shower and beautiful toiletries. The huge bed, a proper king sized bed, was so perfectly comfortable and inviting we both sank into a lovely afternoon doze. Lots of affectionate touches as well, welcome cookies, the Roberts radio playing classical music, proper tea and coffee. Heaven.
The ground floor bar oozes elegance; the people behind the GJS have got it so right, this is what people enjoy from a good bar. Great drinks, lots of big deep sofas, candles and mood lighting, a great background soundtrack make this a cocoon to chill and enjoy great company. One tip, this place is perfect for a lone traveller; intimate and warm so you don’t feel ‘alone’ like so many other big city hotels.
Breakfast was wonderful, a great selection of the usual cold staples together with a full menu of cooked options, I had the Eggs Benedict, perfectly cooked with great coffee.
The other highlight is the amazing roof terrace, unique in Manchester. Even at midnight on a spring Sunday the heaters were on and we sat outside with drinks bought from the bar and looked up to the stars and I began to think, wow, Manchester has moved on…..cannot wait to return.
