Great John Street Hotel

Certificate of Excellence

What can i say Great John Street Hotel, Wow ...... Myself and my Husband stayed here on our wedding day along with 8 other friends and the effort that was made was exceptional. From booking the Hotel (speaking to the lovely Libby Morris who bent over backwards to help , thank you x ) to leaving the next morning every minute we spent here we loved. The rooms (Opus Suite) was outstanding and the personal touches made our day and made us feel so special. The atmosphere in the bar was relaxed and enjoyable and the lovely staff behind the bar bringing over nibbles for us to enjoy whilst sipping the lovely cocktails. Every member of staff were so polite and couldnt do enough. We are still talking about this hotel 3 weeks later and would recommend it to anyone. Thank you Great John Street for making our day that little bit more perfect ! We will definatly be returning !.

I have stayed here numerous times over the last three years and cannot praise this hotel enough to my friends. The staff are excellent, very friendly - We always make a point of over-tipping.
The standard of this Hotels decor is delivered to a high standard and very pleasant on the eye. Our rooms/suites have always been perfect - roll-top baths in room, wonderfully decorated and very clean.
Each time we've stayed here, we felt that we were the only guests!. Fantastic atmosphere in the bar every time, great cocktails too.
The rooftop terrace is an amazing space, not to mention the hot tub!
The last time we stayed, I booked a 'Sunday School' offer and what an offer that was. Its a must ! There was a Wedding happening at the Hotel and we thought nooo. The bubble of Oasis we associated with Great John Street has burst. Thankfully, this assumption was wrong on our part. We still ate wonderful food, drank those great cocktails and still felt that we were the only guests. The staff were still very attentive, we still wanted to over tip and the roof top terrace was sectioned off, still leaving us with the hot tub to wind our evening down.
Well done GJS!
I'm looking forwards to our next night, enjoying your wonderful Hotel

I recently attended a wedding celebration in The Playground (overlooking Coronation Street, although I didn't realise it was until the next morning!)
All I can say is WOW ... what a beautiful venue and how memorable the occasion was on every level. The staff were particularly friendly, the food was beautiful and the venue was perfect.
Sadly, we didn't stay overnight, but I certainly would look to do so in the future.
A hidden gem in the middle of Manchester!

Lovely stay with an excellent welcome. Room spotless and welcome cookie delicious! Playground luxorious and double bath indulgent. Bed cozy and sleep sound. Recommended highly. Didn't eat there so can not comment. Took our own wine and fit nicely in the fridge. .

Really enjoyed staying here - the staff were brilliant, attentive and friendly and the hotel is beautiful (especially the roof top garden and the accompanying hot tub!). Our room had a lovely bathroom and everything was fab. Got a room on late availability which meant it was quite cheap with all things considered; nice part of Manchester too!

This hotel really is a little gem tucked away down a side street, the staff as soon as you walked in were so welcoming and carried on to be so throughout our stay. Our room was gorgeous,
immaculately clean and really was so beautifully designed, the bed was extremely comfy and one of the best nights sleep I've had in a long time :0) The breakfast was divine and they catered for vegetarians. And as for the roof terrace (the playground) it is a fantastic place to sit and watch the world go by and if you're a Coronation Street fan there is plenty of character spotting to be done! So all I can say is thank you to all the staff you made our stay amazing!!!!

We booked an Eclectic Grand Room for an overnight stay in Manchester. The hotel is compact but very impressive. The split level room is a really nice concept especially with the bathroom on the upper level with the double bath tubs. The bed was big and very comfortable and I liked the little touch of the cookies welcoming you to the room,

Drinks were priced as you'd expect in a city centre hotel of this standard. The bar food was OK but there was a very good selection at breakfast and the food was cooked to order.

A couple of very minor criticisms, but nothing that would prevent me returning.

The hotel was boiling hot, even the staff were suffering. Its an old building with what looked like original windows, so I'm sure there is a constant battle to manage the temperature. There is air con and the windows do open so there was the opportunity to make the environment in our the room cooler.

I'd say little more thought needs to be put in to the lighting arrangements for those of us who need to venture upstairs in the dead of night. The bright automatic lighting in the entry vestibule lights up the whole room so will disturb a sleeping partner. There was some low level lighting on the stairs that could have been left on if controlled by a separate switch and the ability to turn off the auto lighting in the vestibule would have been nice.

Overall a really nice stay and I wouldn't hesitate to book again. Special shout out to Christine who served in the bar and took care of us at breakfast - really nice lady with excellent customer focus
