Went there recently with a group of friends. One look at the outside and surrounding neighbourhood and we thought we'd been tricked by a bunch of fake reviews on trip advisor. Luckily we hadn't and it fully deserves its number 1 spot. The food was wonderful, good value and delicious. Bruno and his staff were lovely, so friendly and welcoming. If only we lived in Manchester we would go every week, probably twice a week. Seriously can't recommend it enough. Inside it's cosy and kitsch which just adds to the charm. Wish there was somewhere like this in London.

We absolutely love Bruno's the food is delicious, fantastic value and Bruno and his staff are always so welcoming! I have visited with friends and family and take my two boys aged 1 and 2 regularly, they love it and Bruno always makes a huge fuss of them, which is lovely as it can sometimes be difficult eating out with two small children. They offer feel authentic italian dishes, pizzas, pastas and tapas but also offer english favourites and a good children's menu. Our whole family booked the last Christmas eve and have booked again for this year the set menu for Christmas is extensive and the food was so nice and its outstanding value for money.

My husband and I have visited Manchester for over 7 years and each time we have searched for good affordable food. He is a track cyclist, so we needed to find somewhere near the velodrome that offered real food without fuss but with honesty of flavour and ingredients. And this is the real deal! We called in on the first night of our week long visit and ended up having dinner here every night. Bruno and his staff have a real passion and it shows in their cooking and in their welcome. There is absolutely no fuss. You might be apprehensive on entering as there are no tablecloths, not even paper ones. And the lighting is not very atmospheric. But the atmosphere comes from the warmth of the welcome and the smell from the open kitchen. After ordering we were given garlic bread on the house for while we waited. It was basically a pizza with the thinnest most delicious crust you'll ever taste. What a start! There is a meal deal of 6 Italian tapas and a 12" pizza or pasta dish for 2 people for £12. Amazing value. The tapas selection is fabulous. You can choose from things like mussels, garlicky prawns, or calamari. There are meatballs, pate, a selection of meats, olives, bruschetta, and tomato/mozzarella salad. All yummy. The pizza selection is equally large. There's the usual, like margherita, but you can also have one with wild mushrooms and blue cheese that is simply perfect! Pastas include spaghetti with ragu, lasagna, but also a beautiful fresh ravioli and very generous pasta pascatori.
The room was always lively with chatting and smiles. There were families, couples and groups of friends. By our 3rd visit it felt like we were going to a friend's house for dinner. I just wish I had a friend who could produce such flavours!
This is a gem of a find. If you are using any of the facilities in the Sportcity area it couldn't be better. But as it's beside the new tram line it's convenient for anyone. You need to give it a try and then tell all of your friends!

My husband and I visited last night and were lucky to get the last table. Doesn't look like much from the outside but definate brownie points to the hubby for discovering this little gem . Bruno makes everyone feel welcome and comfortable from start to finish. The food is delicious. ....we had cheesy garlic bread, 6 tapas and a pizza each...all really good especially the baked mushrooms. The star of the show was the fantastic tirimisu....I could have ate more it was so light and delicious. ...apparently the lemon cheesecake is good too.will definitely return. Couldn't believe the price.... £34 for all that food and wine....its a winner! !!!!!

Loved this place. So simple - no table cloths, plastic school chairs and paper napkins but the food was delicious and the price was amazing. We ended up leaving a huge tip as felt like we had been undercharged for such a nice meal. Bruno was great recommending dishes and running around trying to keep on top of the busy restaurant. Well definitely be back
