“good on a budget”
Reviewed May 11, 2013

Stayed valentines weekend with partner. Hotel a little further away from centre than we anticipated but worth the saving on the parking and a pleasant walk into town on a morning. hotel staff friendly and helpful, hotel clean and tidy. disappointed by the size of the room, guess that reflects in the price. housekeeping stripped our bed after our first night and failed to put on fresh sheets and quilt cover so we had to do ourselves, which we found odd. friday night seemed quiet but very `lively` on a Saturday night with groups for stag and hens. overall a nice hotel

Many thanks for taking the time to review your stay with us. Firstly, I am sorry to hear that the housekeeping team did not provide the linen on the second day. This is a very unusual case and I will certainly be discussing the matter with them to ensure this does not happen again.
I am however, very pleased to hear you enjoyed your overall stay and found the staff helpful and friendly.
I hope you enjoyed your valentines weekend and will consider us again for future visits.
Kind regards,
Frederic Dumont

Excellent, clean and very modern. Brilliant for the cost and will be staying again! :) Me and my friends found the service and the staff very satisfying and a great location for visiting the city centre. There is a nearby car park at just £2 for 12 hours and £3 for 24 hours

We booked this hotel as we were in Manchester to see the big reunion at the arena, on booking we were advised it was a 10 minute walk to the arena however on arrival it was a good 25 minute walk, taxi back was £4 so cannot complain really. Hotel initially took us ages to find but once we did find it; it was ideal for where we wanted to go, canal street & train station. would definitely stay there again on future trips to Manchester.
Only two things I would personally fault is the shower is a glass door so could probably make some people feel uncomfortable and electric plugs are out of reach of mirrors :/ other then that it was good!

do take shower gel and shampoo as you have to buy these at the hotel :) X

Thank you for reviewing your recent stay. I'm sorry to hear the shower did not quite meet your requirement and I will pass on the feedback regarding the location of the sockets.
I am however, very pleased to hear that it did not deter you from staying with us again and the team and I sincerely look forward to welcoming you back in future.

We booked two rooms for a friend's hen do on a Friday and Saturday night, due to the very cheap price. As it turned out, we could not have chosen a better hotel.

The hotel
The hotel itself is on a busy main road, but the windows and walls are thick enough to block out the noise. There is air conditioning in the rooms, so you can control the temperature, though the windows do open as well. The hotel is just a 10 minute walk from Manchester station. While it is too far to walk to the centre of the city, it only cost about £8 to get a taxi there.

The rooms
When we arrived we were greeted by friendly staff, who offered to change our booking, free of charge, so we could have rooms on the same floor. This meant my friend and I got a disabled room, so we had a larger room with a separate wet room. My other friends had a standard double room, which was quite cramped, with a shower room and toilet room opening directly off the bedroom. While small for two of them, it was sufficient, when we were only using the rooms for sleeping.
Both rooms were clean, with firm beds and bedside lights. My friends did dislike the noise from the air conditioning and felt it was too noisy outside to have the window open at night, but I found the air conditioning noises unobtrusive.

The staff
The staff are on duty 24 hours a day and were very helpful. They provided extra towels when asked, booked taxis when needed and promptly oiled my friend's shower room door when we mentioned it creaked. The service was much better than you would expect from a budget hotel.

Breakfast
The breakfast was a buffet, which at weekends is served until noon. There is toast and croissants on offer, as well as a wide selection of jams and spreads. There are also cereals and free hot drinks. It all tasted nice and everyone in our group was happy with it.

Overall verdict
It is a budget hotel, but the friendly staff and clean (if cramped) rooms, made it an enjoyable experience and very good value for money.

Room Tip: If there is a disabled room available, ask to have it - the rooms are much bigger and you get a sepa...

The hotel and room were extremely clean, modern and spacious - if a little basic in terms of hotel 'luxuries' (there are no toiletries, and no tea & coffee facilities in the room). At £33 and £49 per night for a double room you can't really grumble, and it was *very* clean. There was a good flat-screen telly in the room, and no noise from other guests even though it was a weekend -- this is perhaps because of the slightly out of the way location. It's a fair walk to the city centre proper, but very close to all the northern quarter bars, cafes etc. I had a bike with me, so it was only about 5 mins from most of the rest of the centre. Would definitely recommend, and stay there again.

The price is similar to Travelodge and the experience is similar. The rooms are slightly smaller and don't have a kettle. However, there is a hot water dispenser and microwave amiable in the foyer area, complete with room the prepa and eat food. Beds, sheets, towels, all clean and white. Good shower with led lights in the shower head! Staff very pleasant and helpful. The location is good, about 20 min walk from city centre and parking available overnight around the corner for £2 a night, secure with cameras.
