Reviewed April 16, 2013

Unlike some reviewers, we found the service and timing here spot on. We were shown to our table immediately, presented with menus and our order taken within 10 minutes. Spoilt for choice we both went for Jamie's Italian burgers......tasted delicious once you'd 'un-built' them. Shared the piping hot polenta chips flavoured with rosemary and salt, accompanied by a very pleasant, crisp chilled white wine. Our very charming waiter did not rush us and even found the time to chat to us. Lovely surroundings, priced as you would expect from the centre of Manchester.

“Stunning building, variable food and service”
Reviewed April 14, 2013

Jamie's Italian is in a former bank building and all the original features have been retained. The old counter is now a bar, the vaults are still in place and you can have a private party in there. The height of the room as you enter is very imposing and there is a great atmosphere, with suspended hams. The food is generally good, not cheap but not stupendous. I have been twice. On the first occasion the service was excellent and friendly. On the second it was barely polite.

“Nice restaurant but more flavour needed!”
Reviewed April 14, 2013

I went with my husband on a Saturday night, booked a table for 6pm through our gold card and had half an hour wait to be seared to our table. By the time we were brought to our table we were starving. We chose the salt and pepper squid and the nachos to start with and both were very good, me and my husband had previously been to the restaurant in London and had pasta and risotto dishes we both stated that they were very bland but thought we would give it a second chance since we both live in manchester, we chose pasta dishes and again very bland, need more flavour please.
I would try it again but probably just for nibbles and wine. Overall not a bad experience but wouldn't order risotto or pasta dishes.

“Splendid grand ambience”
Reviewed April 13, 2013

Visited here a late bank Holiday Monday. This is a beautiful setting and was very pleased with the service and food. The building I think was old Bank building with splendid past maintained opulence. I loved sitting in the Gallery that goes round the building on the first floor. It was so spacious and opulent looking inside whether you looked down or up.
The Chianti at £26 was well worth the money and was as good as the one I drunk in the centre of San Gimignano in Tuscany last year. The food and service was very good without being superb, but it's the setting that really makes this a wonderful culinary eating out experience and certainly worth a second visit.
