I've been a fan of Lonnie Liston Smith for nearly twenty years and when I discovered he was going to play a gig not far away, I leapt at the chance to see him live.
I'd never been to the Band on the Wall before but I will be going again. The venue is small but that added to the great atmosphere. The bar staff were happy and helpful and the door staff were laughing and joking with people as they arrived. What I was really taken with was the live CCTV feed that showed the band rehearsing - a clever touch.
The prices were about what I'd expected and, although I didn't eat, the food looked good.
It was a great gig and the venue was superb which helped the evening go really well.
I stayed at the Travelodge just two minutes away, the venue itself is only eight-minutes walk from Manchester Piccadilly railway station, another plus point.
