Me and four friends visited 24 Bar & Grill before going to a show at the palace theatre. I was a bit sceptical about the venue as when we arrived it was empty (minus staff) which I found odd for a city restaurant on a Thursday evening. We sat down 15 minutes late (even after arriving 20 minutes early) partly our fault as we lost track of time talking in the bar area but no one came to ask if we would like to sit down? odd. The table ordered almost the same starter/main with all of us opting for the paté starter and four of had the pigs cheeks for main and one had the chicken main course (By the way, we dined off the 24 taster menu). Starters came relatively quick and we all tucked in, personally I found he paté far too garlic-y but it was edible although far to much paté for the amount of bread provided (one piece of a small thick loaf). Mains followed, again we didn't have to wait long for these. Pigs cheeks where delicious, literally fell apart and melted in your mouth... PERFECT. The only thing that put me off visiting again was the waiter, he seemed like he was trying far too hard and we requested the 10% service charge to be taken off as we all prefer to decide ourself what we would like to give as a tip, he seemed highly 'annoyed' about this and the tone of voice he used to say 'WELL, I'll have to print a new bill now!" wasn't exactly professional. Nevertheless we all enjoyed out meal and found it very relaxed and would probably visit again if passing.
