Description: Set in the heart of Manchester city centre, you will find our relaxed, intimate sushi bar offering an unparalleled dining experience through fresh, inspired creations. At the very core of our service offering is freshness and quality – in our ideas and our produce. Our skilled chefs are always striving to push the boundaries of the menu in innovative ways, to excite the palate of our customers and bring you Japanese dining at its very best. You can discover tempting hot dishes such as Taiwanese pork rice, Japanese Wagyu beef, daily special fish board. And choose from a plethora of sumptuous sides... While on the drinks menu, an impressive selection of beverages includes Japanese Koshu wines – probably their debut appearance in Manchester! We are happy to recommend, so please ask! Reservations highly recommended.

Great menu, excellent service and most of all a fantastic vibe created by the cosmopolitan bunch who run this charming, quirky little place. This is the type of place that makes you really appreciate the glorious melting pot that is Manchester.

Looked up Trip Advisor for Japanese restaurants in Manchester and Umezushi came top.
Went for meal with my wife and to be honest it didn't look up to much of a restaurant, More like a cafe.
That aside the meal was superb, we had the Umezushi taster meal and it was faultless. I didn't want it to end.
Best i've had outside of Japan.

We found this place late on a Friday night. It is under a bridge near Victoria Station, resembles a high sided Nissan hut and only seats 22. We had the Umezushi set meal to share. It consisted of Maki -tiny crab and salmon rolls, Umagi - beautifully constructed rice and fish, sashimi - one of the best pieces of tuna I have ever tasted and then Tempura. The centrepiece of the tempura was a huge prawn. It was the only thing I ate all night that did not taste as fresh as it might. The rest was superb. Our hot dish was a steamed scallop beautifully cocked in its own shell. The miso soup was served next. I am English enough in my tastes to wish the soup came first and not just before the dessert. it wasn't just out of a packet though, it had scallop, salmon and white fish in it. Dessert was chocolate fondant with salted caramel ice cream. This was worth a visit on its own. The bill for two came to £46 including a Curiosity Cola and Aloe Vera juice. This was a real find at 10pm on a Friday night thanks to Tripadviser and my mobile phone. The staff were great and did not mind at all that we were the last to leave as they cleared down at 11.30. Quality. Recommended.

Our second visit to Umezushi was every bit as good as the first. The food is prepared and presented with care and the flavours are great. The menu is varied and there is always a good choice on the specials board. The atmosphere and urban informality are refreshing and the small team of staff provide a really personal service. The waitress has a really good understanding of the menu and is more than happy to make recommendations about food choices - which for us we're spot on!! We've recommended Umezushi to friends and we recommend that you give it a go. Our only criticism was that we sat by the window and the draft was unbearable - even the radiator failed to improve matters.
