Description: The Blue Pig, an illustrious drinking hole situated right in the heart of Manchester's fabulous Northern Quarter, has gone through a transformation in the autumn of 2014. Carefully crafted cocktails are a speciality, featuring many of the well known (and lesser known) spirits that cram its shelves behind the bar; from fine aged exotic rums & unusual small batch gins to flavour filled vodkas, single malt whiskies, sippers, snifters & digestifs... Craft beers have a big part to play in its revelling repertoire as do some fantastic local real ales. The Pig's signature burgers and roasts are rated as some of the best in Manchester, and sharing boards & specials guarantee there is something for every food lover. Evenings and weekends are hosted by some of Manchester's finest DJs, featuring Northern Quarter favourites So Flute and Lee Majors plus special guests. Keep an eye out for details...

Popped in here for a bite. It was packed to the rafters and when the food came we could see why. We got lots of tasty dishes to share between four and the wine was great. Would return visit, good service and a happy atmosphere.

“Happy little piggies”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 31, 2013 via mobile

Four very happy customers had steaks frites and teriyaki duck salad, at least four drinks each and it only came to £84! In my opinion that s a bargain for platefuls of delicious foo derived in a very appealing way, fantastic bar staff and a warm, relaxed atmosphere. We'll definitely visit again!

“Great burger, average fries.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 28, 2013

Packed at 6pm on a Friday, this is clearly very popular. We had the Kobe burger which is a whopper of a piece of meat, well-flavoured and well-cooked.The bun just about held together! Fries were McDonald-like though(frozen?).Great atmosphere, service friendly and efficient and prices very fair.

“How to spoil a birthday”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 22, 2013

After reading complimentary reviews on a local website I thought I would take my mother to the Blue Pig for lunch as we shopped in town for her birthday present, I now wish we had just gone to Aladdins opposite and had one of their take away falafels instead, tastier and better value.
The Blue Pig is in simple terms dire, even the waitress who took our order seemed to embarrassed to engage in conversation as she knew what was coming our way. The focaccia was stale, the hummus bright orange and tasteless, the babaganoush insipid and the slice of pork pie that mum had was dry and bland, while the cured meat did at least taste of something it did little to rescue lunch. Needless to say we left most of what was served and left after a disappointing 20 minutes.
There are some excellent places to eat in the Northern Qtr, this place is not one of them!
