I was staying at the Upper Brook Street Travelodge on business with some colleagues and we needed somewhere for an evening meal. The Cafe Bar didn't look very exciting so we ventured out looking for a restaurant. And stumbled upon Petra less than 5 minutes walk away (turn left out of the Travelodge and Petra is just the other side of the garage).
We had a very pleasant evening with some wonderful food. The Kefta I had as a main was very nicely flavoured with a generous portion. I'd ordered the fired rice/vermicelli as a side which made a perfect accompaniment. One of my colleagues had the mixed grill kebab and he commented how nice that was.
Leave room for desserts. Not huge portions but boy-oh-boy are they rich.
Petra is now firmly implemented as somewhere to eat out in Manchester next time I'm there.
It's worth noting, something we didn't, that they don't have an alcohol licence but are happy for you to take you own wine. There's a Tesco Express next door at the petrol station.
