8 of us visited on a Friday lunchtime from work.

We booked ahead and went to the effort of placing our food order so that we could be back at the office for a reasonable time.

Upon arrival we were seated at two booths of 4, which meant we were effectively there as two groups, with one group unable to speak to the other.

Despite our pre-planning, after a lot of fussing our food arrived. We regularly pre-order our food at Revolution on Parsonage Gardens and they are much more efficient in their service in this respect.

I ordered the Philly Cheese Steak Sandwich. It felt like a heart attack on a plate. I know you don't come here to lose weight but the fries were EXTREMELY salty, to the point of it spoiling my lunch; by no means am I a fussy eater. The steak was average and there was barely any cheese on the sandwich. At £9.50 this is definitely not value for money.

We were visiting for a birthday so we received complimentary desserts. In contrast to my main, the Cookie Dough Cheesecake was delicious.

We all felt full after our two courses, but just a warning that no-one was full up from their main course alone; the desserts saw that we were.

After the initial dithering we ended up with a waitress who was very friendly and offered a better service than when we first arrived.

The venue is great, as is the atmosphere. I would come back here but only ahead of a night on the town with the girls, as I imagine it can get quite lively in here on an evening and set you up for the night.

If you're into good food, stay clear, but if you're after a hangover meal... perfect.

We had to wait 40 minutes at the bar for a table as it was very busy, but that was fine as there was a good atmosphere. Had cocktails to drink, which were amazing – very strong and tasty! We had starters of mozzarella dippers and garlic bruschetta, followed by veggie burger and ‘black & blue’ burger, which were all great. Didn’t manage to finish the mains though as they were massive portions. Service was friendly and fast

Overall would definitely recommend!

This restaurant is massive and looks fantastic inside!
This was our first visit to TGI Fridays and we were pleasantly surprised. The food was delicious and our drinks were refilled without us having to ask, which was great.
The only negative aspect of our visit was that we had to wait a very long time for our plates to be cleared after each course, despite the restaurant not being too busy. The person serving us seemed quite distracted and at the end of the meal we had to ask him twice for our bill. He then asked us to "bear with him, as he had a very large table to deal with". I would have thought that our smaller one would have been just as important as the large table. We then had to wait a ridiculous amount of time for him to bring the bill, which almost resulted in us missing our train.

Despite this, the food was great and if the service had been better, I would definitely have given 5/5.

T.G.I's new place, royal exchange buildings, cross street manchester is smack in the middle of everything in the town, so the location is a good one. The staff are very helpfull and work extremely hard, of which i have noticed seems to go through the whole chain of these restaurants. I took my daughter for a meal on 15/09/2012, we gave our order to the lovely waiter at 18.10 and he came with our drinks at 18.20, so that was not that bad, we did not receive our meal till 18.45 and as friends were meeting up in piccadilly at 19.30 it was quite a rush. The waiter could not apologise enough. The thing is i have seen these places full to the brim and the orders are always served in better time, it was not that busy to warrant such a delay. Could it be the open plan kitchen. of which i thought was a good idea and looked stunning, just the design for the city centre. Im sure i shall visit again as the food was very good, so on the food alone i would have given 4x. Just be prepared to have a wait. Guess its quite new so things may get better. Well mannered staff.

For the sheer size of this restaurant deserves a WOW!!! Don't think i've ever seen a restaurant as vast. Althought it didn't appear too busy for a Friday night, its hard to tell how many diners were there because of the size of the place but they create a great atmosphere through the music, decor, lighting. Service very friendly as you'd expect and sometimes a little extroverted which can be a little annoying but suppose adds to the Americaness of the place. Great for celebrating bdays with the customary sing song by the staff... Food is tasty and effeciently served and the staff check back to ensure everything is to your satisfaction. Its a fun place to dine and reasonably priced - think next time the cocktail menu will need a good examination ;-)
