This area is one of the most beautiful we saw at our Manchester trip. Actually we saw the restaurant from the metrolink and dessided to try to find it the next day. We sad outside in the sun a summer evening eating a light meal (pasta and sandwich) drikningen white wine while looking at the house boats at the canal.

Not enough staff waiting the tables. We had to go over to the bar to ask for our plates to be collected and take to take our order for dessert.
We waited 45 minutes for our mains to be brought out.
The Sunday roast that 3 of us had was pretty average at best.

Pretty disappointing really as it was far better last time we went.

I work in Salford and was meeting an old school friend in Manchester for lunch. A quick search brought up the Wharf. What a find!! Easy to get to, Easy FREE parking, Nice ambiance and the FOOD!!. We started with the meat platter - wonderfully balanced fare and just right for two to share as a starter. The smoked venison particularly good with a superb house piccalilli. For the mains, my friend had the Dingley Dell (basically sausage and Mash) a simple dish made heavenly by the sublime Mash and firm tasty sausages. I had the Lamb shoulder on the waiters recommendation - who by the way was excellent, attentive but not interrupting - and I was not disappointed. When the dish arrived, i looked at my standard knife and wondered if I might need a steak knife - such was the size of the joint. I couldn't have been more wrong. One touch of the meet and it fell away from the bone as if it was feinting. The taste was perfectly balanced with the quality of the meet itself - simply nom nom and smack of the lips. The Wharf is an excellent dining experience with attentive but non intrusive staff, very welcoming. I'll be back for more and would encourage everyone to give it a try.

If you like a pint of real ale then The Wharf wont disappoint with a good selection on draft and all superbly kept, nowhere else in the area offers such a good choice

The restaurant offers a good selection but I agree with a lot of other reviewers on here that it's expensive pub grub. Even a prawn sandwich will set you back £6.70. That said the food is good and the place has been refurbished to a high standard and has a cozy welcoming fell about it.

A great place to sit outside if the weathers good, and it's always busy if it is !

The portions are tiny. The food is marginal. The prices are virtually DOUBLE what you might expect them to be. The service is odd.....to say the least.....and dead slow.

Why would you go here when you can get much better food, at 30% less cost, with much better service, at Dukes.....which is a 3 minute walk away? 'Simple answer..........you wouldn't.
