This was my 2nd stay at the Radison and it reflects very much the renaiissance Manchester has experienced. Very stylish, public rooms, fabulous restaruant - do not miss dinner in Opus which whilst not cheap represents excellent value the food holding its own with many of the 'swanky' restaurants that promise so much and deliver so little.
My room on the 11th floor well appointed, modern and stylish great shower and bathroom area. Staff are well trained with the right balance of being friendly but at the same time remaining very professional. I would not hesitate to recommend the Radison to anyone. My room rate was £108.00 B&B which I thought was superb value.

I'd highly recommend this hotel, it is centrally based for shopping / eating and entertainment, we went to a show at the MEN Arena which is only a 15 minute walk (10 if you're quick) We'd told the Hotel it was our anniversary when we stayed and we recieved a plate in our room with some strawberries and chocolates (nice touch)
The breakfast was relly nice and items were been replaced on the buffet on a regular basis so the hot food was always hot.
I would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel for a futire stay, especially good for couples.

Detail
I know this hotel well and I stay regularly, i.e., a few times per month. I have also stayed in various other hotels in Manchester, all pretty much the same class, and I have formed a reasonably balanced view. I often have colleagues with me and we generally agree about this hotel.

The Staff
The staff at this hotel are pleasant and courteous. They are generally helpful, but not particularly so. They assist where they can but appear to shrink from doing that bit extra. On several occasions where things were not quite right and they could have taken the initiative, they do not. Some of this can be put down to weak training particularly when compared to similar hotels in the area. For some reason, a solo traveller seems to be assigned a twin room with beds so narrow you must not stir in your sleep. I have travelled many business miles over the years and this is a first. One must specifically request to be placed in a double. I dislike this immensely. Recently, while staying with four colleagues they had to move one person two times over four days from a twin to a double and back - no apology, no offer for the inconvenience. This is a training issue.

Location, Facilities and Service
This hotel is centrally located with reasonable access to the business district, shopping and restaurants. There is no parking so you must use the NCP Car Park behind the hotel which is not particularly cheap or convenient.

The lobby and restaurants are juxtaposed and they are clean and presentable. The bar is often busy throughout the week and the cocktails are nicely made. Beer is on tap and served in bottles as one would expect but neither is particularly good value. The bar service is generally efficient with friendly staff. It is clean, modern and comfortable.

The OpusOne restaurant serves an interesting broad range of dishes that are slightly out of the ordinary but tend to the heavy side with rich sauces and ingredients. You may find the choice tiring if you eat more than twice there in the same week. The menu changes reasonably frequently so there is generally something worth trying. The atmosphere is dark and modern, very red, noisy and somewhat cold. This restaurant would not come high on my list of romantic choices to take a date. For a business dinner it is a reasonable choice. The service is consistently good though I would not say excellent. The staff are sometimes hesitant and unsure of their tasks which could be resolved by better training.

The Alto Restaurant has a more basic menu with larger portions. The atmosphere is institutional and this is reflected in the service. The layout is ackward and one only needs to observe the staff for a few minutes weaving around the throng of chairs, tables and diners to realise how poorly it is designed. Breakfast is like mayhem. It is buffet style and you will need to be highly attentive to avoid wearing your breakfast. At £17 it is over priced.

The Spa and Gym
The gym and spa are quite well equipped. The gym has more than enough for the business traveller to keep up his routine when away from home. There is probably too many pieces of gym equipment for the space but it seems well utilised in the evenings. There are two treadmills, two step machines, three stationary bicycles and several weight machines, such as a pec-deck, arms, shoulders, etc. There is a separate dumbell area with exercise mats but it is very crammed.

The locker rooms are clean and modern. Large and small towels are provided along with four showers. The showers are somewhat small. Conversely, the steam room is spacious as is the sauna. There is a small jacuzzi for at most four people and quite a good size swimming pool about 1.4 meters deep with a strange opaque glass ceiling. The staff are generally helpful but like most of the staff at this hotel not particularly helpful.

The Rooms
For some reason when you check in as a solo traveller the default allocation seems to be a twin room. I find this extremely irratating. You have to ensure you ask for a double or you will end on a bed the width of a child's. It reminded me of being in halls of residence. That aside, the rooms are clean, spacious and well equipped. They have a dedicated shower stall as well as a full bath tub. A sink/dressing area is separate which contains a hair dryer, iron and ironing board, safe and closet. The rooms have a Bang & Olufsen TV and Remote which is quite illogical to use but would repell an intruder with its weight. The beds are quite firm but the pillows are more so. They are man made fibre and quite uncomfortable if you are accustomed to traditional feather/down pillows. The turndown service seems always to occur at the most inconvenient time but that is the nature of things.

Summary
A comfortable and well appointed hotel which is enjoyable when all is well but slightly let down by staff when things go wrong.

An excellent stay was had by my husband and myself for our 20th Wedding Anniversary at the Radisson Edwardian Manchester. All the staff were efficient, friendly and helpful always with a smile. The room was modern and tastefully decorated, superbly clean. The breakfast was delicious and the service also was very attentive. Thank you Radisson Edwardian for making our Anniversary Weekend so enjoyable.

Stayed here one night with a friend to spend a little retail therapy time. The reception staff and the porters could not have been more helpful and, they have excellent customer service standards. We ate in the Opus restaurant as it was pouring with rain and were pleasantly surprised with the ambience and the food. Although my dessert was not good it was changed without any problem and I was told it was a new menu and they appreciated the feedback. No charge was made for the dessert either and our excellent waiter even loaned my friend his personal umbrella so we could go for a walk outside - again, exceptional customer service. Much better than the Hilton!
