“Great for a weekend to Manchester”
Reviewed January 23, 2013

We've stayed in a few hotels in Manchester and this is definitely up there with the best. Fantastic central location, lovely room ( we paid for a City View room and it was worth it), staff helpful. The only criticism really I have is that the gym is small and not the best equipped and the pool looked small too. The spa was lovely.

Hard to find a more comfortable hotel in Manchester - everything to make you feel pampered from bath robes and slippers to speedy room service with a smile. Staff trained to excellent customer service standards - an all round good experience.

Room Tip: You need your keycard to use the lift at night - for your own security.

We stayed at the Radisson Blu Edwardian in Manchester city centre on sat 19th
Jan 2013 and have had such a fantastic weekend stay that myself and my partner have been feeling somewhat depressed since we got back home!!! The room, food and hotel itself were fantastic, but what really stood out to us was the quality of the staff and the customer service - the staff without exception were truely fantastic. I have stayed at nearly all the 4 and 5 star hotels in manchester city centre and this hotel is the one I'd return to without hesitation due to the geuninely helpful, friendly, down to earth, non pretencious and customer intuitive staff that work there. Believe me I'm picky and I am genuinely stumped to be able to find anything less than extremely positive to say, which is a first! We would like to give a very special shout out to Frank on reception, and also all the chaps on concierge - all of whom went the extra mile and impressed us, yet without any fuss and in such a genuine/natural way.

We stayed in room 528, one of the alfresco suits, which was exceptionally well laid out and designed - I especially loved the wet room which had both a shower, bath, and a detachable over the bath shower - brilliant for just freshing up and especially if you want to wash without getting your hair wet, and also the separate dressing and wash basin area is amazing for getting ready for a night out! Also loved the outdoor decking area and it will be great to return in summer and get more use out of this space. We had been booked to dine at OpusOne, but changed our minds last minute and ate in the more informal Steak and Lobster restaurant - and we certainly didnt regret that decision as the food was simple, wholesome and devine - just what we wanted.

Message to hotel - just keep doing what ever it is you're doing because it works and we wouldnt have changed a thing! Many thanks again for an exceptional experience.

Stayed for 1 night on the 'winter treat' deal. Great value for money and no major complaints. The hotel is a similar standard to the Midland and Hilton where I normally stay but is probably slightly more luxurious. Most of the staff were very friendly and the afternoon tea was excellent. Small gripes would be - room was cold on arrival and couldn't adjust (reception sorted quickly though), was supposed to get a complimentary gift and shopping vouchers in the deal but no sign of those, 10% service charge automatically added is a bit much...£54 for two drinks and 2 afternoon teas! Overall it was very good though and the breakfast was excellent.

Room Tip: Was given a city view but not sure it is worth paying extra for? Manchester is hardly Paris or Rome...

I had a wonderful stay here the Friday before Christmas. The staff were incredibly helpful (posting my mail, opening the entrance doors etc), the room was comfortable (lovely bed), clean, quiet, well stocked and with an individual temperature control panel. What more could a person ask for?

Well maybe the incredible lobster dinner room service brought up to me at 12:30AM?

Or the wonderful breakfast the next morning. Fruit, cereal, yoghurt, pastries, cooked breakfast, an array of fruit juices... All at a nicely presented table.

And then there's the incredible location, just down from Albert Square where the town hall is and the Christmas Markets start.

The only thing that was a little disconcerting was the ladies changing rooms for the spa - to get to them you had to walk through the gym (past all the loud and noisy treadmills), not very relaxing. But the ladies at the spa and the treatment rooms themselves were all wonderful. I had a massage (amazing), a facial (I have sensitive skin and it didn't like what was used but the result was great for my pores), and a pedicure. The toenail polish took forever to dry - too cheap.

So, a wonderful hotel experience, perfected by the great service, but the spa experience left a little to be desired.

Room Tip: Ask for a quiet room - they have them!

I was delighted to read this review, thank you for providing this very detailed feedback. I am sorry you were disappointed with the product used for your facial. Sienna Spa is currently undergoing a major refurbishment which includes upgrading the products to a new brand, so I hope you will have the opportunity to sample this on your next visit.

Stayed in Jan 2013 whilst visiting Lowry Theatre. Staff friendly and helpful, rooms stylishly decorated and although renovations were being carried out to gym/swimming pool this did not spoil our enjoyment of theses facilities - the only drawback being we had to change in our rooms and walk down to pool in hotel supplied bathrobes/slippers.
Very nice bar where we wound down after the theatre visit, seemed very popular with locals and a had a relaxed atmosphere. If you're looking for a city-centre hotel I have no hesitation in recommending the Radisson Blu Edwardian.

On our recent stay we were very impressed with the quality of the room, clean and fresh with a great view over the roof tops of Manchester.

We went to the Opus bar for pre dinner drinks and was faced with a sour faced bar man, by the name of Andy. He barely grunted when we placed our order of an espresso martini and a pint of peroni, his manner was most unpleasant as he handed over the drink which was not as it should be with a jug of cream by the side. At £10 per cocktail and £6 a pint we would expect service with flair and courtesy non of which we received, v disappointing!

The hotel was on par with the Lowry where we recently stayed and the location of the Raddison excellent. The breakfast was buffet style for both the continental and the cooked which was fine but could have been better. Despite the poor service in the bar, we enjoyed our stay and the other staff in the hotel were lovely and most helpful

Thank you for your very kind comments on our hotel. I was most surprised to read your remarks about Andy. This is most out of character for him and as you can see from other reviews, not our normal standard. I have show him this and will personally speak to him about it.
