Hatter's Hostel

price is really competitive and location is really great ( located in the heart of the city center) BUT if you want to have a shower just remember that bathroom is simply freezing! bedrooms are freezing too. On the other hands all guys at the reception are really friendly. So i suggest to go there only during summer time and if you want to go out during the night because hostel is really noisy.

Service is good; he girl at reception was extremely helpful and friendly. The good things is that you get complimentary breakfast...there's free toast all day long...and there are activities organised some nights ie pub crawls. The room I was in (505) was ok...a bit dusty and noisy (the hot water service thing was next to us so we kept hearing it turn on when someone used the hot water). However the sheets were clean, toilets as well and location perfect...about an 8 minute walk to Manchester Piccadilly station.

Spent a night there with a few friends, but none of us actually enjoyed it. The building was old and the toilets were not clean at all. All of us thought that paying 23 pounds each for a night's stay was too much. The breakfast could have been a lot richer, and you are being instructed to wash all your dishes afterwards.

The only good thing was that the hostel is centrally located.

Would definetely try to find another place the next time

I spent a night here when I went to attend an event in Manchester. The hostel wasn't hard to find once you see the iconic wall art painted on the side of the building. I stayed in a mixed room with two other friends. The beds were clean and cozy. The shared toilets were not in their cleanest states but they were not so bad. I loved how the staff were very friendly. I love the common area where you can help yourself with toast, cereals, coffee or tea in the morning. The atmosphere felt really warm and I would definitely stay here again. Oh before I forget, I really wanted to try out their pub crawl. I think the hostel organizes its own and the pictures look pretty wild and fun as it should be!!!

Had a great stay in the Hatter's. Right in the heart of Manchester, comfortable beds, great price. Good for a weekend away with the guys. Staff were great, very helpful couldn't ask for anything else really! Great breakfast place just down the road as well.

the location is great, pretty close to Piccadilly center (10 minutes of walking) the room where clean, the communal area is very nice to meet new peoples and there is free wi fi (not something you see a lot in England) there is also a TV room that not everyone knows about and it's nice.

it can be noisy at night, lot of young peoples party all night, I'm Ok with that, some might prefer quieter place.

one thing that was a problem - the water in the showers where not warm, it started hot and after few seconds got cold, this is disappointing because it was very cold outside and you really wait for the hot shower to get warmer.

Impossible to sleep here. They need to instigate a policy for noisy guests - i.e., a room for noise offenders or keep their deposit.

I went to bed at 9, got woken up at 1. Spent 2-6 sleeping on a sofa in the TV lounge and was moved on at 6. Absolutely knackered as was up since 4 yesterday, up since 6 today.

Much the same happened last time I was here (a few weeks ago) and the time before that.

Staff don't seem to care or want to address the problem.

Hostel used to be £10 in January-February 2012, then they keep increasing the price, was £13.50 2 months ago, now £15. Not good value for money especially as it is impossible to get a proper night's sleep.

To add to that, now they charge £1 for earplugs (used to be free). Surely it should be the noise offenders that should be paying the £1? Completely unfair that the rest of us should be made to suffer and pay for other people's noise.

Advice to travellers - spend a few extra pounds, stay in a Travelodge otherwise you may as well save your money and sleep on the street. This hostel is not up to sleeping standards and it is not good value for money.

Room Tip: Can't choose a bed let alone a room. They need to instigate a room for noise offenders or at lea...
