We initially booked a family/triple room for 2 nights but reduced it to 1 after reading quite a number of negative reviews. We actually wanted to change to another hotel but we had no choice as all other hotels were fully booked. Anyway, we managed to find another hotel for the second night.

We were not that anticipated to stay there before we arrived, but after we checked in and got into our allocated room, our impression of the hotel has totally changed! First of all, the man at the receptionist was friendly and helpful.

There's some kind of smell due to poor ventilation, but that's not really a major issue. It's still bearable. Ventilation in rooms were better - you could always open the windows.

We reserved for a triple room but there was 2 single beds and a double bed in our room. The room and facilities were very basic and it was very clean! Even cupboards were clean without any dusts. In fact, it's the cleanest hotel I've ever seen. Even corners have no dust.

Well..you can tell by seeing that the beds, bed linens, cupboards etc have been used for many years, but overall they still serve their functions. And yes, you can find small holes in bed linens/blankets, but that's not really a major problem. You could see efforts of renovations and upgrades. In our room, there's a new basin, and the carpet was sort of new too! Ah, and the bathroom as well.

Although our room was actually family room with en suite, the bathroom/toilets were not in the room like the normal hotels. I am not sure about other rooms, but in ours, we had the main door, and then there's an empty space where you could further find another 2 doors - one for bedroom and another one for toilet/bathroom. There was a basin in the room so we don't have to walk out and go to the bathroom/toilet to wash our hands/brush teeth etc. Overall, there were comfortable spaces for movement and you won't feel it's small or congested or whatever so.

We had a very comfortable sleep at night although we dare not use the pillows! Not a big deal though. You could find hairs randomly on pillow cases/bed sheets, but this happens almost in every hotel I've been too. We requested for a hairdryer and the man at the reception gave us a new one. Not a high quality one, but it's usable (Though I doubted if it would explode when turned on).

The environment was quite good. It's quiet. I couldn't hear any sounds/noise from next doors. Not sure if next door was occupied but the guy at the reception claimed that there were no more vacancies for the day.

There's a small TV there - no big plasma TV but You can watch the usual channels. Kind of impressive.

Soaps are provided for each guest of the room.

Security was kind of good I guess? If you leave the hotel and return, you would either have to ring the bell and wait for someone to open the door for you or use the key they gave you to open the main entrance door.

There are no lifts! You will have to walk up the stairs carrying your own luggages! Not a big issue as most people staying there won't have super big luggages.

Breakfast was good too. You could order anything on the menu and eat till you are full. We ordered toast and were served a total of 10 toast! Service was good and efficient despite there were many people.

In conclusion, we had a nice stay at the Imperial Hotel and we think that it's definitely not a problem to stay there for another night - we shouldn't have changed it to another hotel. It's definitely worth it to stay in that hotel.

I have read other peoples reviews and thought the comments some of them a little harsh, we stayed 17 nights in total, yes ok the hotel can do with a mega update, decor not the greatest but for your money its not a bad deal. breakfast was very filling and the staff were great, especially in the morning!!! id rate this hotel a 3*, Again some people moan but why we came here because it was a cheaper alternative, some say we had no choice etc..... remember always check your room before you pay any money upfront and im sure all you who complain did so Stop complaining. Well i enjoyed my stay........................

Room Tip: Always check your room before you sign the dotted line.....................................

Right....here it is.............NOT FIT FOR HUMAN HABITATION!! Amusingly there was a sign in the hallway stating 'No Dogs' - well it wasnt even fit for a dog anyway. Once we had swam our way from the rubbish dump of a car park to the reception we were asked for payment of £50 upfront.......I wonder why!!.. the Room was terrible...Small dirty room with awfull bathroom if you could call it that. Bad stench of plughole drains & sewage & no hot or even warm water. Totally shabby room , bad fitting ceiling window. Bed felt unclean & had no headboard, unclean dusty room wth stains & hairs & broken bits & bobs. We did risk breakfast & this wasnt too bad & the waitress friendly. The Area around us was fully booked on this evening so our choice was very limited but we wouldnt have stayed if we had seen the room first. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!

Have travelled around uk fo about one month, this is definitely the worst hotel i have stayed in my life.capet with others' hair on. Drawers are broken. Toilet is not clean and u can't take a shower. I will never stay here again. The negative reviews are all true. I will stay away from this hotel at all cost.
