Good service, flat beer, not enough dinner to go on a slice of bread. Photo to prove it. Will not visit again, sooner have a bag of chips.

Really nice atmosphere and setting. The steak was great and cooked perfectly (3 of us ordered steak each to be cooked differently and they all came as requested).
We booked a table which I'd advise as it gets busy.
Lovely staff and great location.

This place is very, very popular in the evenings. We waited a full hour for a table. When we complained about others being seated before us who we deemed to have arrived later, the girl at the seating desk became very defensive and did not explain reasons. It would have been better to refuse the booking than keep fobbing people with how many are in front and it not tallying with what we were seeing, after all we were the paying customers. I put it all down to pressure and stress

dined at the Old Wellington last year after the "christmas market exsperince!"and got a table for 8 with a bit of juggling, this year booked 4 weeks in advance asking for a table on the top floor got there were told there was no `note`for our request and had to take one on the first floor even though the top floor was almost empty at the time.Overall everyone was quite happy with their food, even if it did take rather along time to arrive considering the place wasn`t exactly packed at the time.Ihad the fih goujons, which although all fused together(either semi defrosted and refrozen or manufacturers 2nd`s)tasted ok.

The choice of dishes on the menu was rather limited - even by generic 'pub grub' standards - and for those seeking a vegetarian dish (such as myself) there was hardly any choice at all. There was about half an hour between food being ordered and it arriving to the table. When it did finally arrive the food itself was fine - nothing special but not terrible either.

Service left much to be desired; my father had ordered a dish advertised as coming with onion rings though when his meal arrived there were none to be seen, when he informed the waiter, he was told that there were no onion rings in stock in a rather rude tone - surely this should have been mentioned when ordering and no deduction was made to the bill to account for the missing items. My partner had asked the waitress when ordering if he could have a side dish of peas with his meal which the waitress said was not a problem. When the side dish arrived it contained green beans and carrots but no peas. To this the waiter said they did not have garden peas but did have mushy peas so my partner accepted this and asked for some mushy peas - the waiter went to fetch some from the kitchen but did not return with them.

Overall, I would not reccommend ordering food in The Old Wellington and anybody seeking staff with good customer service skills should look elsewhere.
