“Great pre-concert pub”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 2, 2013

I have always wanted to try this pub, and last night I did!
We popped in for a late afternoon bite, before heading off to see Fleetwood Mac at the MEN arena.

Everything was just as I had imagined, with the Olde Worlde look and feel still all around.

The dining room is upstairs, and I suspect is very popular early evenings. Excellent service. I had two first class pints of The Nicholson's Pale Ale that is brewed just for the pub group in the West Country.

We shared a fish platter, and then had a different pie each for our main courses.
Wow! You must try the lamb pie, with a great fluffy crispy top.

If "The Mac" were not one of my fav bands, we might well have stayed in the pub all night!

“pre concert drinks”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 17, 2013

cosy venue with polite and helpful staff. a wide selection of real ales and not to bad pricewise for a city centre venue. There is a plaque on the wall in the beer garden explaining the history of the building and how it was moved to its current location after the Manchester Bomb

“Nice pub food”

We had dinner here on Friday 13th Sept. The food was lovely. Good size portions. A main meal with a drink was less than 10 punds. Well worth a visit for both food & atmosphere.

Generous portions on the fish and chips. Food always served piping hot. I'll be back again. Wait staff alwsys very attentive.
