We went to Manchester to attend a wedding (party of 8) and we just happened on the North Star in Dale Street where we were staying. The sandwiches were lovely and the salads were really fresh. I had a lemon and crayfish sandwich and it was delicious and would recommend this café. Its a nice pitstop!!!

Recent visit with my wife to North Star Piccadilly (Dale Street Manchester) for afternoon tea, this is related to North Star Deli in Chorlton and opened in late 2011

This place can only be described as a step up from a small cafe but do not let the pink chairs and plastic tables put you off, the place is clean, the staff are friendly and the afternoon tea very tasty.

For around £17 two people can enjoy a very filling choice of sandwiches, scones with butter, cream and jam, plus cakes and an excellent pot of tea. Having sampled the same at some hotels for £50 this is excellent value. In fact we pushed the boat out and for £45 had a bottle of very good quality sparkling wine thrown in, a similar deal at a good hotel would probably set you back around £70 or more.

They open early and serve a large variety of food, hot and cold, at very competitive prices up to 5pm Monday to Friday and 6pm Saturday, (no Sunday).

If I find myself in Manchester looking for something to eat, I would certainly go back to North Star. But don't take my word for it, try it for yourself.
